A sample narration

(Pic 1)

One evening, a retired couple was having a barbecue at their new home. They invited some of their new friends over to join them. Everyone enjoyed talking and eating while looking at the fantastic view.

(Pic 2)

Later that evening, the couple got a call from their daughter in Japan. She had some great news: they were going to become grandparents. The couple was excited.

(Pic 3)

The next year, the couple traveled back to Japan to see their grandchild. When they arrived at the airport, their daughter and her husband were waiting, and they met their grandchild for the first time. The daughter welcomed them back.

(Pic 4)

A few weeks later, the couple was packing their things and preparing to go back. The woman held the baby's hand began to feel sad. She realized that because they now lived overseas, they wouldn't see their grandchild again for some time. She asked her husband whether they really had to return home.

A Sample Answer for Questions

A1. (If you were the husband in the fourth picture, what would you say to your wife?)

I'd say that seeing our grandchildren is important, but we can always come back to visit.

A2. (What do you think can be learned from this story?)

I think it shows us that we should carefully consider the consequences of any big decisions before we make them.

A3. (These days, many Japanese people are taking vacations overseas rather than in Japan. Why do you think this is happening?)

Well, I think TV is really influential. Foreign countries appear so exotic compared to our everyday lives, and so people want to go and find out more about them.

A4. (Should the government provide scholarships for students who wish to study abroad?)

No. The amount of taxpayers' money spent on education is already high enough without such scholarships. People should find a way of paying school themselves.
