picture1:One day, a woman was talking with her co-worker at the museum. The museum aimed at certain people and lot of citizens had never been to the museum. She thought they want to widen the target of the visitors and said to her co-worker, “We should get the community more interested in art.” The man agreed and searched which generations don’t come to the museum the most. They figured out many little kids’ parents don’t take their son or daughter to the museum because they don’t want to be in trouble.

picture2:Few days later, the woman hosted a staff meeting. At the meeting there were two main ideas. One was painting workshops for kids and the other was to buy new artworks. They ended up in holding a painting workshops for children from the data the man figured out. Also they didn’t have much money to purchase new artworks. They focused on collecting new visitors.

picture3:A few months later, they were able to host the event that children draw whatever pictures they feel like drawing. They placed a space inside the display zone of the museum and many children enjoyed drawing freely with their parents and talking aloud which they can’t do in the usual day. There were some elderly and quiet visitors who wanted to focus on the painting but the employees couldn’t notice and they thought this event was a good idea for the museum and for the family who wants to take the little children to the museum but worries about the other visitors in the usual day.

picture4:Later that day, two of the elderly visitors claimed, “It was too noisy to enjoy the artworks.” The staff apologized and the elderly couple left the museum with disappointed feeling. The woman thought they were just thinking about the new generations and weren’t able to think about the regular visitors.

●questions

No.1:If I were the woman, I would be thinking I should move the space for children events to other room. I think the event itself was a success but too noisy. If we move the space, there will be no problem for everyone.

No.2:No, I don’t think so. By charging money, the museum will be able to collect more interesting art. I don’t think they should set the price too high but charge certain amount of money to make the museum more fascinating.

No.3:I don’t think so. I agree that education system makes student more competitive. However, it is not too much. Students should learn the ability to compete at early stage because lot of people must experience the competition whenever they work for the company. I feel experience of losing might help grow yourself at early stage.

No.4:Yes, I think so. In Japan, many elderly weren’t able to study enough because of World War 2. Many elderly want to study because they couldn’t study when they were student. I feel providing a place for elderly to study will prevent many senior citizens to die alone and to produce senior to work for communities such as volunteering.
