1. Should companies in financial trouble receive government support?

(Hiro)

It's controversial issue. So, it is very difficult to say Yes or NO. However, Since government support means usage of tax which is money from citizens, if citizens can understand the support, it would be rationalized.

One of the support made by government in the US is support to General Motors, and Chrysler. It was controversial since the support only help only the people in the automotive industry. When the financial crisis occurred, a lot of company bankrupted. So those people who didn't get helps thought it is unfair.

On the other hand, if the company bankrupted, more than a few million people would loose their jobs. In the economics crisis, this impact is so huge and government loose the future source of taxes. If Chinese company buy GM and laid off employees in US and only transfer technologies in China, US government loose future source of tax and in the end US citizens can not get merits.

So as conclusion, government support is acceptable as long as it is the good way to use citizens money, tax.

From the view point of capitalism and free competition, government shouldn't support those companies in trouble

Firstly, it it impossible to

Small and large companies have responsibilities in the society, not only among it's employees but also with the people living in the area. A company in the brink of bankruptcy must receive all the government aid they can for them to sustain the company's needs as well as to continue providing jobs for its employees.

2. Are women portrayed accurately on TV today?

Considering some celebrity's sexual appeals, it wouldn't be.

One example is Korean female units called Kara (http://www.karaweb.jp/)

They obviously emphasis only one aspects of women - sexual appeal by their beautiful legs.

If the group or the companies use sexual appeals because it is a good business or money, no one would agree with accurate portray of women on TV.

In this sense, it could be said in some cases, women are portrayed wrongly due to busness reasons.

However, it is very difficult to define accurate depiction of women, because everybody is different.

To achieve this goal, we still need to make a lot of efforts

3. Does religion provide good moral standards for society to follow?

I strongly believe that religion provides good moral standards for society because psychological and historical studies showed that religion and morality are closely intertwined.

Religion establishes certain code of conduct which bring about cooperation and cohesion among members. Though there are different religious organizations but you can find common principles these are: love your neighbor as yourself or do unto others what you want others do unto you.

When a person has a religion he / she starts to appreciate critically the society. They tend to follow the standards or rules of each religion which requires them to act morally. They have a perspective in living with the principles of their God or Creator. Their belief on second life or internal life and the existence of heaven and hell leads them to live in a society with respect to the authorities and obedience.

Religion is a sort of act or belief that fills every persons emptiness. It fills a person's view of life to live accordingly with the Divine Providence that leads them to act morally and harmoniously in the society.

4. Should university education be free for everyone?

The right to education comes along with the free access to different learning institutions. Thus, government provides free education for everyone in the form of public schools. This is applicable only for the primary and secondary levels. Unlike the first two levels, however, I believe that tertiary level must not be completely free for the following reasons.

Firstly, universities have different expenses that the government could not fund if they have it free for all. One of these expenses that I mentioned a while ago is attracting qualified and competent teachers to teach their fields of expertise. The higher the salary is, the more likely to hire these kind of people ,and thus would yield a quality graduates.

Next is the ability of the institutions to take the edge over the others. With the tuition fees that are gathered from the students, they could use it for the betterment of the facilities like library, audio visual room that students may tap during their university years and the most important one is the appropriate budget for the revision of educational programs. When it comes to students, without the free access to education, they can learn the value of obtaining a degree. Being successful need not the dependence of what others can give, but more on working it for oneself.

To sum up, although, there are some who are receiving free education for their exemplary work, but I still hold my ground that it should not be free for all because it will cripple the universities' potential and would likely to sacrifice the quality education.

5. Can Japan effectively reduce its dependence on oil?

Yes, Japan reduce dependence on oil effectively. However, we need to solve so many energy related issues.

Currently to supply electric energy, we rely a lot on nuclear power. Actually it works very well low cost and no carbon dioxide emission.

Untill Mar 11th, 2011, the nuclear power plants operated safely and people think there are no problem using nuclear power.

However, after the great north east Japan earthquake, Japanese faced with the huge risk of using nuclear power.

So, the government can not expand the usage of nuclear power at least 10 years or so.

Renewable energy can be an alternative in 10-20 years. However, as of now, it can not be cost effective compared to other way to produce energy such as oil, coal, or nuclear.

Japan also have made a lot of effort to reduce use of energy by developing fuel efficient cars, low power source requiring refrigerator, washing machine etc.

So, overall Japan effectively reduce reliance on oil however, we are facing new challenges.

(Sample 2)

Japan has found some other alternative ways in reducing its dependence on oil.

Nuclear plants are built in some places now and nowadays, harnessing non-renewable energy source is being practiced.

With these, I believe that these are the stepping stone in effectively decreasing oil dependence.

To make this point clear, I will present some reasons for holding this opinion.

First and foremost, the government is giving subsidy to cities that have nuclear power plants. This is enough to encourage metropolis to have one aside from using oil. In contrast, using this kind of energy source would threaten the life of people, but the benefits outweigh the dangers. Because of these plants, other sectors would run smoothly and efficiently. Factories can get the power needed to power the plants, inventions that don't need oil like electric cars will have ample of energy source.

Next, is the constant fluctuation of oil price in the world market that continues to aggravate the burden the people. This could cripple the business industries if there's no other ways of tapping other sources of energy. If all business sectors rely on oil then there would be a possibility that the industry will flop. A courier service for instance, would likely to increase their freight service charge once the oil price increased. Consequently, this can affect the customer's attitude towards using the service. If nothing is done to prevent this, the effect would be adverse, thus creating much bigger problem.

From the points mentioned above, it is concluded that although Japan is not completely free from the influence of oil,

little by little with the utilization of other forms, Japan would not entirely rely on oil.
