We experimented to see how the ground is disturbed when something is buried.
Ready to get started.
The bedrock is in place.
Now we need some granular material to fill the gaps.
The rock layer is done.
Next we need some subsoil. Don't let Jonah know I've pinched his coffee granules!
Ready to add topsoil.
All the soil layers are in place, but we've not finished yet ...
We're going to need some leaf litter to go on top.
The ground is prepared.
Now to bury our body!
Digging a grave. Do you like our fancy shovel?
Just enough room to fit our corpse.
All covered up ... but look at the tell-tale signs that all is not well. The leaf-litter is almost all gone and there's subsoil on the surface. By Jove, Watson! A shallow grave, if I'm not very much mistaken!
Now to start the excavation ...
There you are, Watson! What did I tell you?
Next job - sketch the crime scene and note everything down.
And, as a reward for all our hard work, some tasty bedrock!
