Well! We got through Christmas day without any major upsets. Georgia got on amazingly well with Hannah's two girls, which helped bring together what might have been a rather difficult combination of people congregating under one roof. I hadn't realised, but this was the first time Laurence had met Jonah. They hit it off at once and now Hannah is putting the girls to bed while Laurence is supervising Jonah's physio. His paramedic training means he's not nervous around Jonah the way most people are when they first meet him and they've been swapping stories about dramatic incidents in their working lives.
Nathan and Georgia have headed off to Hertfordshire now to spend Boxing Day with her parents. with Georgia being Jewish I was surprised that they were travelling on a Friday night, but she told us that her family have always taken a very relaxed attitude towards the Sabbath. They aren't getting married on a Saturday, though, because there are some of her aunts and uncles who might take a different view. As Nathan said, when Georgia is already giving them cause to be concerned about her marrying a gentile, there's no point going out of his way to give the impression that he isn't aware of potential sensitivities. They both seem to be being very sensible about recognising the possible problems associated with a mixed marriage and to be talking things through with both families to try to avoid friction as far as possible. I hope it all works out for them.
