Ricky certainly seemed to enjoy his birthday. In the end they went to "Snakes and Ladders" in Abingdon, because that's got lots of indoor activities for the under-fives. Ricky had been hoping for the Farm Park, but Peter and Crystal decided that the weather just wasn't good enough. By all accounts, Ricky had a good time in the adventure playground and wasn't best pleased when it was time to come home. Then he fell asleep in the car on the way back and was full of beans again by the time he got here, which was quite exhausting for us all.
Next in the Johns Family birthday list is Amber, who will be seven tomorrow. Hannah has arranged for Granddad Peter to have a Skype call with her and he's posted her some books and a very special jumper knitted by Chrissie Hughes. I forgot to tell you that Chrissie insisted on knitting a jumper with a dinosaur on the front for Ricky, when she found out that his birthday was coming up and then Peter let slip that Amber's birthday was just the day after, so she made one for her too. Amber's has a giraffe, which Ricky says is just right for her because she's nearly as tall as a giraffe now! She has shot up recently, much to her sister Emily's annoyance, because she's quite small for her age and Amber has nearly caught up with her. Hannah sent us a photo of them together and you could have believed that they were the same age.
We identified a few glitches in the software that controls the driverless car this morning. Jonah had a near miss with a tree when it took avoiding action because it interpreted a pigeon flying across in the front as a major hazard and swerved to avoid it. But then, that's what all this testing is all about. We want to find all the bugs before the car gets used in earnest on the public highway.
