Poor Father Damien! (He's the Parish Priest at St Cyprian's, which is our local Roman Catholic Church and the church where Peter is gojng to be confirmed at Easter.) The organ packed in over Christmas and they ended up having to get an electronic keyboard in as a temporary measure for Epiphany. Peter came back from one of his confirmation preparation classes (or "our little chats" as Father Damien calls them, seeing as Peter is the only candidate) with the news that they've had the organ builders in to strip it down and not only is the organ in a far worse state than anyone imagined, but the problem stems from a leak in the roof above it, which nobody had been aware of. The organ has been taken to bits and transported back to the organ builders' workshop and they've got a builder in to assess the damage to the fabric of the building and fix the roof. Alghough Christmas is only just over, Fatehr Damien is anxious that the repair work may not be finished in time for the big Easter services.
I can foresee a lot of prayers to St Cecilia (patron of musicians and organ builders) over the next few months!
