It's hard to believe that we're only 5 days into the lockdown. It feels as if it's been going on forever. Luckily the weather is still good, so we've spent a lot of time out in the garden being ordered about by Jonah who considers himself to be the most expert when it comes to growing things. Unfortunately, he almost certainly right! Both Peter and I are more used to living in houses with just a small yard, while he was brought up in a manse with the traditiional large garden that so many of them have. We've sown plenty of vegetable seeds, which should keep us going if the shops run short later in the year. The farmers are suggesting that there may be problems with harvesting vegetable and soft fruit this year, because they can't bring in seasonal workers from continental Europe.
Today is the day that Boris tested positive for COVID-19, together with Matt Hancock, the Health Secretary. The Chief Medical Officer is self-isolating because he's got symptoms, but it seems that he's not important enough to warrant being tested! According to the Independent, Boris only has himself to blame becasue he didn't adhere to the social-distancing rules that he's been telling the rest of us we've got to follow: www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/coronavirus-boris-johnson-positive-test-health-advice-shaking-hands-hospital-hancock-a9430231.html - what a wally!
