We met with Vanessa's legal team today. They're a funny lot. There's her solicitor, Yasmeen, who seems very pleasant and normal. Then there's her lead barrister, a QC who rejoices in the name Christabel Bagshott-White, who's rather arrogant and appears to treat the trial as a game. Finally, there's her pupil, Justin, who's very earnest and rather apologetic. I think I can picture Christabel pontificating in the style of Rumpole-of-the-Bailey. I'm not sure that Justin will ever hack it as a barrister, but maybe he'll gain confidence as time goes on. It's a bit worrying that none of them really seem to be taking seriously the idea that Vanessa might actually not have killed Christopher. I rather fancy it might suit Christabel's feminist agenda better for her to be found to have killed him in response to his outrageous treatment of her.
