Well, here's a thing! Father Damien appears to have commissioned Peter to act as a private detective! Of course, Jonah couldn't let him get away with that, so it looks as if all three of us are going to be investigating a murder case that West Mercia Police have decided is all done and dusted.
It concerns a parishioner at the church where one of Father Damien's friends is parish priest. Father Gerard ("Gerry") trained at the same seminary as Father Damien and they've kept in touch ever since. The accused is a woman who has been one of his flock from childhood. The case for the prosecution is that she killed her husband after he had subjected her to years of abuse. She denies everything and is refusing to take the advice of her lawyers to plead guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of "loss of control".
We've arranged to go over to Evesham to meet her and her parents tomorrow, after which we'll (well, Peter will) decide whether to take it on.
