St Cyprian's organ has gone off to the organ builders' workshop. They are predicting that it will take 3 weeks of intensive work to get it back into working order. Meanwhile the builders have fixed the roof and are working on re-plastering the walls and ceiling. Fortunately, with it being close to the side wall,it hasn't affected much of the elaborate painting on the ceiling. I can't remember whether I've mentioned it before, but St Cyprian's has a quite remarkable ceiling. Apparently it was done back in the seventies - or thereabouts, nobody seems to be quite sure - by the youth group under the supervision of a local artist, who designed it and then helped them to apply the paint. It's the sky, with lots of white puffy clouds and angels peeping out from behind them. It's a bit bizarre really, but in keeping with the Noah's Ark picture in the west window. I don't know what jonah would make of it all - he'd probably think it was all rather childish!
