He rode around 500 winners and enjoyed his best season in 1996-97 with 48 wins.
He retired at the end of 2002.
Brian was born with a foot deformity - his left leg was slightly shorter than his right.
Before going racing, Brian would milk a herd of cows each morning.
He was lucky with injuries, only suffering one broken leg throughout.
He won the 1988 Scottish Grand National on Mighty Mark and the 1988 Scottish Champion Hurdle on Pat's Jester.
