Christopher Louis Peter Rutter was born on July 31, 1963, and started his working life at a clothing factory on leaving school in Manchester.It was his parents who got him a job in racing with Henry Candy in January, 1980.
His uncle, Mark Rutter, was a post-war Flat jockey in France.
Chris retired in 2002 having ridden just under 500 winners. He became a stewards' secretary to the Jockey Club.
His brother, Keith, was also a jockey.
Chris's biggest wins came on Goggles (£200,000 St Leger Yearling Stakes in 2000) and Come On The Blues (Royal Hunt Cup 1985).
