The son of a farmer, Robin Dickin was born at Ludlow on April 2, 1953, and was apprenticed to David Nicholson.Robin was born just two miles from Ludlow racecourse.
Starting out on the Flat, he rode his first winner, Bob, at Warwick on August 18, 1970.
His first winner over jumps was Double Take at Catterick.
His career ended with a bad fall at Towcester in 1986 which affected his balance.
