Lee, George
George Frederick Lee, born 1936, was apprenticed to Harry Wragg.
However, this proved unsuccessful, and George quit racing to join the forces.
He returned ten years later to ride over jumps and, aged 29, won his first race in 1965 (Vulgan Lady, Nottingham, May 14).
He retired in 1973 and became a full-time farrier.
George rode a treble at Leicester on March 22, 1971, and rated this as the highlight of his career.
His biggest win came on Magic Court in the 1968 Worcestershire Royal Porcelain Chase
