Morrow, Bert

1927-2001

Robert Henry Morrow was born in Ireland on May 16, 1927, and was principally known as the rider of the brilliant but ill-fated Galloway Braes, on which he won 16 races.

His first winner was Night Fighter at Wincanton on November 2, 1950.

Bert rode around 150 winners and it was a schooling fall which ended his career.

He died in Hampshire in December 2001 aged 74.

His best races won were:

1952:  Stanley Chase - Finvarra

1953:  King George Vl - Galloway Braes

1953:  Queen Elizabeth Chase - Galloway Braes

1954:  Queen Elizabeth Chase - Galloway Braes

1956:  Fred Withington - Must

1957:  Grand Annual - Sir Edmund

1958:  Coventry Chase - Pointsman
