Herbert John Grant rode on the Flat and as a National Hunt jockey.
Not by any means in the big league, his best win was probably when winning the Arkwright Hurdle at Manchester by a short head on Latoi on October 31, 1935.
He was retained by trainer Henry Dobson Peacock of Hurghill Lodge, Richmond, Yorkshire and could weigh out at 8 stone nine.
His service career: six and a half years D.L.I. Maritime A.A., R.A. and R.A.V.C.
He died of a perforated ulcer in October, 1985.
