General Sir Cecil Hugh Blacker was born on 4 June, 1916 and was a senior British Army officer and former Adjutant-General to the Forces.
A top class International Showjumper, Cecil was also a keen amateur steeplechase jockey, enjoying his greatest win on board Pointsman (formerly known as Food For Thought) in the Grand Military Gold Cup on Friday, March 12, 1954. (See below).
In 1947, he married Felicity Rew. They had two sons: Terence who went on to be a writer of note, and Philip who, after a successful career in the saddle as a National Hunt jockey, became a sculptor of renown.
Cecil died in October 2002.
