Tommy Aldridge was born in Staines, Middlesex, in 1856 and, while he is shown to have trained briefly at The Durdans living at Park Cottages, Epsom, he was primarily a jockey.
On Monday, June 21 1920, whilst riding Mr A. Wildey's Esplanade at exercise at Epsom, Tommy was thrown, suffering fatal injuries.
Tommy is buried in Epsom cemetery.
Tommy suffered a personal tragedy when his son, Private William Aldridge, died in 1917, aboard the ship 'Transylvania' was torpedoed on route to Salonika.
