William Faiers, apprenticed to Charles Archer, rode with much success on the Flat and over jumps in Britain before going to ride in Australia and Hungary in 1892.
He found even greater success later in Belgium, being champion jockey there on a few occasions before returning to Britain to settle down in Newmarket.
His biggest win in England came in the 1887 Jubilee Hurdle on Luminary.
William died at 26, Bath Terrace, Newmarket, on September 14, 1913, He was 46.
