Benjamin Hanbury was born in Oxford on March 25,1946.
He started out as an amateur, eventually riding about 80 winners.
His first winner was Volcano at Dundalk on May 23, 1964.
He had one ride in the Grand National, Master of Art, who fell in 1968.
Ben became a well-known trainer and sent out Midway Lady to win both the 1,000 Guineas & The Oaks in 1986.
His father is the trainer/jockey Tom Hanbury.
Ben's biggest win as a jockey came on French March in the 1967 Mildmay of Flete Challenge Cup.
Ben was always impeccably turned out and wore a permanent tan.
