Nathan Horrocks, son of jockey Alan, first rode in public at Edinburgh on Monday 4 December 1995. Riding Chantry Beath in the Gorebridge Conditional Jockeys' Handicap, he won at 5/1.
Nathan had his first ride at the Cheltenham Festival when partnering 16/1 shot Patras in the 2000 Coral Cup Hurdle (Wednesday March 15). He was unplaced.
He retired from the saddle after riding Magnatism in a NH Flat race at Sedgefield on Thursday 25 July 2002.
Nathan contacted the Jockeys Employment & Training Scheme (JETS) subsequently becoming a Sales Director of a firm called Classic Boots. He then became an On-course Representative for Betfair.
Talking in October, 2008, Nathan said “I had invaluable help from JETS at the end of my race riding career, without which I would never have got the job at Betfair or had the confidence to run my own business. I only wish I had contacted them at the start of my career because I reckon those skills would also have made me a better jockey.”
