David Read rode the 1902 Grand National winner, Shannon Lass. For this he was given £500.
He scored a treble at Plumpton on January
12 ,1900.
In 1903, he was badly hurt when falling from Space at Plumpton.
David died at Southwick, Sussex on June 19, 1935, aged 72. He left just a single £1.
