Born August 19, 1953, Peter left school aged 15 and immediately went on to serve his apprenticeship with Tommy Shedden in Wetherby, learning the trade of a jockey / trainer.
His best winner came riding The Alickadoo who won The Davidson Gold
Cup for M H (Peter) Easterby. Peter also won the conditional jockey's title
at Sedgefield.
Riding spells abroad followed where Peter was fortunate enough to
experience riding in Japan and South Africa before some time working in
Italy for Luciano D'Auria for a number of years, where he broke in the
famous Falbrav who was winner of 8 Group One races in 5 countries
totaling nearly £4 million in prize money.
Having quit the saddle, Peter turned to training, sending out horses from
his Ingmanthorpe Stables, Wetherby.
