Unfortunately most of the Minutes of Club meetings from now until the General Meeting in September 1997 are not in the Minute Book, apart from committee meetings held before and after the 1997 Dinner & Court, when the secretary provided detailed reports and recommendations for the organisation, running and review of the event. A thorough check and tidy up was made of two boxes of documents found in the Club's steel storage container, but without success.
With dedicated Members stepping in to lend a hand, and the helpful co-operation of manageress Greta Anderson and staff, Nairn Curling Club staged another successful event.
Top Table Guests& Speakers pictured: Jim Sommerville (Curler's Grace), Campbell Dickson (Secy/Treas.), Bill Fraser (Area 10), Roy Sinclair (Past-president RCCC ), Malcolm Jones, Ali Asher (Match Secy.), Robbie Craigie (Moray Province), Colin Macgregor (Vice-pres.) Alan Nelson (Jack Frost).
There was an attendance of 30 members at the meeting held in the Golf View Hotel. Eric Brown, who had recently been ill, was elected an Honorary Member 'in perpetuity'. In order to clarify any confusion caused at the AGM in April, the Club's Office Bearers and Committee were confirmed as:
President: Malcolm Jones; Vice-president: Colin Macgregor; Hon Sec/Treasurer: Campbell Dickson; Match Sec: Alister Asher; Immediate Past President: Bill Young; Committee: Alistair Adam, Bob Barfoot, Scott Cameron, Des Coleman, Harold Forrester, Mike McInnes, Gregor Munro and Alex Webster.
Members were asked to sell raffle tickets to help fund the northern leg of the incoming Canadian Tour in January 1998.
Arrangements were finalised for the 1998 Dinner & Court. 115 had attended the 1997 event, and the Golf View had asked that numbers be restricted to 100. An allocation for neighbouring clubs was worked out, plus a 'first come' arrangement for Club members. Sheriff David B Smith had accepted the invitation to give the toast to "Jack Frost".
