29th January 1973 - Management Committee

The committee were reminded of the opportunity to terminate the lease of the ponds at Martinmas 1973. It was stated that "early action" was required before meeting with the landlord - the Nairnshire Farming Society

The 1973 Dinner & Court was to be held in the Highland Hotel.

February 1973 - Dinner & Court - from RCCC Annual 1973-74


26th February 1973 - Management Committee

The Dinner & Court for 1974 was booked at the Highland Hotel. 73 had attended this year's succesful function. The stoup had been sold for £18.50. However, the evening had clashed with Moray & Nairn Province Premier League curling, and the Province was to be asked to prevent a clash of dates in the future.

After a full discussion the committee decided to recommend continuation of the lease on the ponds for another seven years, with only rinks ‘A’ and ‘B’ to be maintained. The Farming Society would be allowed to use them on show days providing there was no heavy traffic on the surfaces.

16th April 1973. - Annual General Meeting

Held in the Highland Hotel

A third mild winter had resulted in no outdoor curling, although ice had been available on a few occasions.

General fund £19.02. Reserve £127.40. The present membership fee had been £2.00 since 1964, and would require to be increased, especially if the lease on the ponds were to be continued.

The Annual Outing Trophy had been won won by Dr J MacFadyen

Eric F Brown, J Asher H Forrester & D A Kerr had won the Group No 5 Dewar’s league

Eric F Brown J Asher R Mirtle and H Forrester had won the Inverness Ice Rink Dewar’s Rosebowl

E F Brown J Asher, H Forrester & R W Berry had won the Scottish Rotary Championships (Ramshead Trophy) at Perth.

Eric Brown's rink, winners of the Province A League, had been chosen to represent the Province in the RCCC Group 5 match against a German Touring team.

President Robert T Mirtle, Vice-president James Asher and Secretary Sandy Gunn were re-elected. The position of match secretary was vacant.

The meeting agreed to continue the lease of the ponds on the present basis.


29th May 1973 - Management Committee Meeting

Recommended the subscription be increased from £2 to £3.50 with immediate effect, due to the rising maintenance costs of the Ponds

20th August 1973 - General Meeting

The subscription increase was agreed. Sandy Gunn agreed to take on the duties of Match Secretary in addition to those of Secretary/Treasurer.

George Christie (Fochabers) had been elected Moray Province President.

December 1973 - Johnnie Walker Silver Plate

Robert Mirtle skipped a rink of Harold Forrester, Jimmy Asher and Eric Brown to victory at Aviemore.

With the Silver Plate came 4 x half-gallon bottles of the sponsor's product !
