28th January 1974. - Management Committee Meeting
It was reported that outdoor ice had been available on a few occasions, but no use had been made of it, and that the ponds were in an untidy state after the recent gales, and two trees had been blown down. National Power restrictions limited the use of lighting.
Final arrangements for the Dinner & Court on February 1st were made.
1st February 1974 - Dinner & Court
A total of 83 attended the Highland Hotel, with Adam Cockburn, RCCC President, as principle guest. The toast to Jack Frost was given by W A Taylor, Forres, Neighbouring Clubs by N.M.Gordon with the reply by J A Cattell (Dalcross). R A Laird toasted Wives and Sweethearts. The pier was Hugh McCallum and entertainment was provided by A Tulloch (violin) and J McMorran (piano). R T Mirtle (My Lord) was ably assisted by J. Asher, P green and Dr W B Stewart. The initiates were prepared by I A Mackintosh, B Ralph, D A Kerr and R W Berry.
13th February1974 - The Scottish Rinks Championship
17th April 1974. - Annual General Meeting
This was held in the Highland Hotel.
The Treasurer presented a financial statement for the year, and highlighted the costs of maintaining the Lodgehill ponds.
Eric F Brown, J Asher, R T Mirtle, and D H Forrester were presented with suitably engraved goblets by the club to mark their winning of the RCCC Scottish Rinks Championship. Dr Douglas Macdonald made the presentation and expressed everyone's delight at the happy occasion.
The same rink had won the Moray Province Premier League, the MP Knock-out, The Cluny Rosebowl, the Group Knock-out and the Dewars Rosebowl.
The existing David Brown Jubilee Shield had been mounted on a larger oak shield, with the Donor's approval. This will ensure a further life of 20 years.
Friendly games had been played against Loch Ness, Caberfeidh and Strathpeffer, Nairn Ladies, Highland and Darnaway. Buchan Ralph had won the Club's Annual Outing Trophy. At the Lodgehill rinks there had been very little outdoor curling, and power restrictions had prevented evening curling.
Robert T Mirtle (retiring president), gifted a Presidents Chain of Office to the club.
James R Asher was elected President and R W Berry Vice-president. The Management Committee were: E F Brown. G M MacLean, R T Mirtle, I A Mackintosh, W Park, D H Forrester, Dr J MacFadyen and P Green. George Stewart was appointed Hon Auditor, and A Gunn remained Secretary/Treasurer and Match Secretary.
Peter Green & R A (Jock) Laird were appointed to investigate the possible refrigeration of the ponds.
8th July 1974. - Management Committee
Peter Green reportsed that the costs of refrigerating the ponds "is out of all proportion and so not a sound proposition". The ongoing costs of keeping the ponds in order were ominous, and it was agreed to meet with The Farming Society to discuss the matter.
22nd July 1974 - Management Committee
James Asher (president) reported on a meeting and discussion with Andrew Wilson, the chairman of The Farming Society. The Society were now considering an out of town venue for the show. The committee agreed to recommend that the ponds be given up at the earliest opportunity.
19th August 1974 - Extraordinary General Meeting
This was held in the Highland Hotel ahead of the usual pre-season general meeting. The committee placed two resolutions before the membership: That the outdoor ponds and clubhouse be given up at the earliest opportunity, and that the annual subscription be fixed at £4 for the coming year. Both resolutions were passed by the requisite majority.
10th December 1974 - Management Committee Meeting
The President, Vice-president and Secretary had met a deputation from the Farming Society on the 13th November, and an agreement was being drawn up to terminate the lease of the ponds on 31st December 1974.
11th December 1974 - Park Cup Final
Eric Brown (skip), with Harold Forrester, Stan Johnstone and Gordon Ralph were victorious over Dr J MacFadyen (skip), Tom Hastie, Alistair Mackintosh and Jock Laird (sub for George Stewart), in the Park Cup Final.
There was an entry of six Club rinks.
