At the Nairnshire Curling Association Dinner, an apology for abscence was intimated for Sir A.P.Gordon-Cumming Bt. of Altyre, whose efforts had led to the revival of Moray Province and it bonspiels. Sadly, his death was announced in The Forres News the following week.

At the time of revision of this website (2021), the British Newspaper Archive ceases publishing The Nairnshire Telegraph from March 1939. Fortunately the Club's Minute Book from May 1939 to December 1968 is available, together with transcripts from microfilmed "Nairnshires" courtesy of The Highland Council Archives.
20th May 1939 - Special General Meeting
It was agreed to proceed with the treatment of the two SW rinks with hessian and bitumen on Col. Cramm's recommendation, at a cost of £100. Debentures of £1 would be issued or donations accepted .
Major Fraser presented the Challenge Trophy (decanter) donated by him for evening competition, to Col Cram skip of the winning rink. Members of the rink received medallions.

CURLING
BONSPIEL POSTPONED BUT NAIRN CLUB RE-ELECTS OFFICE-BEARERS
Owing to the war the Grand Match at Carsebreck and the Moray Provincial Bonspiel will not take place this season. This was reported at the annual general meeting of Nairn Curling Club held in the Royal Hotel on Wednesday evening.
The chair was taken by Mr Robert Park, president, and there was a large attendance of members. The Secretary and Treasurer's report, which showed that the membership had kept fully up during the year, was approved
Committees were re-appointed and other office-bearers were:—Patron—Mr William Whitelaw-; patroness—Mrs William Whitelaw; president—Mr Robert Park; vice-president—Mr James Lamb; chaplain— Rev. P. S. Gordon Fraser; auditor — Mr John Macgregor; ice master — Major D. Fraser; honorary secretary and treasurer —Mr D. Michael: Skips — Messrs R. Park, D. Michael, D. Fraser, Joseph Mackay, D.A. McLean, Dr J. Innes Watson, Alex. Joiner, J. Lamb, and P. McF. Cramm. Representative members — Mr Park and the Secretary.
It was left to the Match Committee to decide, as time went on and circumstances permitted, whether club matches might be arranged.

The meeting closed with a hearty vote of thanks to the President on the motion of Mr G. McL. Gordon.
5th December 1939 Management Committee
Members on military service are to be exempt from subscriptions "while absent from here on duty".
It was reported that at a meeting of the County Association on 16th November it had been decided to "leave the question of holding a County Bonspiel this season in abeyance."
