The Club had been drawn against Highland in the District Medal, and it was agreed to play the games home and away.
Final arrangements made for the dinner – My Lord's cloak thought to be with Mr Pottie. The minimum age for initiates to be 18 years.
The Nairn rink representing Moray Province team are depicted below with their Canadian counterparts (in white tops). The match was between all the Highland Clubs and the Canadian Tourists of 1960. At the Club's AGM it was reported that the Nairn Rink lost by two shots.

NOVITIATES AT "COURT"
Eighty curlers from this area, along with guests from Inverness, Forres, Dundee and Dollar, were present when Nairn Curling Club held their annual dinner at the Royal Hotel on Friday night and 13 novitiates were presented at " court". Among the guests was Mr W. Sneddon, manager of Dundee ice-rink.
The chairman was Dr J. MacFadyen, president, and after he had called for the Loyal Toast, the following toast-list was gone through: "Jack Frost," Mr J. G. Watson. "Royal Caledonian Club" - Mr Robt. Taylor; reply Major Allan Cameron, Allangrange. " Neighbouring Clubs" —Mr A. Bennington Read; reply—Mr J. Laurie, Highland Club. "Wives and Sweethearts"—Mr R. J. Hunter; reply—Mr A. M. Duncan. "Chairman" Mr D. A. Macarthur. Tributes were paid by several speakers to the success of the Ardclach rink against the Canadians
The curlers court followed and the novitiates presented were: Messrs C. Chisholm, jun.; W. Davidson, A. B. Duncan, D. M. Ellen; E. Grieve, A. Gunn, A. Laurenson, T. Rosie; S. Lean and A. Stewart (of Cawdor Club); W. Walker and A. Mitchell (of Ardclach club); and R. K. Forsyth, Forres. Two others who were due for initiation were unavoidably absent because of illness.
During the proceedings the Highland Club representatives presented to the Nairn President a medal to mark Nairn's recent Highland District victory.
The hotel management made an excellent job of the catering and other arrangements were capably carried out by the Club Committee, with Mr G. G. Calder as honorary secretary.

CURLING
ARDCLACH RETAIN LEVEN CUP
Play for Nairnshire Curling Association's Leven Cup took place on the Nairn Club's pond on Friday and as only 4 rinks were available, afternoon and evening sessions were necessary.
The afternoon session took place in excellent ice and was thoroughly enjoyed but after half an hour's play the evening session had to be abandoned owing to snow and it was agreed to play the following evening.
Snow fell steadily for an hour after the curlers had assembled for the second time but with great faith in their good friend "Jack Frost" they waited patiently until the snow ceased and were rewarded with excellent ice to finish the bonspiel. Ardclach, holders of the Cup, again finished winners, with Nairn (Group 1) runners up. Nairn (Group 2) Cawdor and Glenferness also ran.
The rink skipped by the Association Vice-President Mr D. A. Macarthur (Ardclach) won the President's brooches for having the highest number of shots up over an opponent in 20-7. Mr Macarthur handed over the Cup in the absence abroad of the President, Lord Leven.
26th March 1960 - Ardclach Minutes
The Arclach Club committee discussed the possibility of the Club building an artificial rink.
A possible site at Littlemill was suggested and it was agreed that a meeting be called to inspect the site on Wednesday 13th April at 7.30. Mr Paton (Nairn) the County Surveyor, to be invited to give opinion and advice.
6th May 1960. - Annual General Meeting
The 53rd AGM was held in the Royal Hotel and a report followed in the Nairnshire Telegraph. The membership totalled 88, and the accounts showed a balance of £175:5/4. Mr David Brown had resigned for health reasons, and was elected an Hon. Skip. Fred Knowles, the iceman, was thanked for his good work.
There was a discussion on the planting of trees and shrubs at the pond as a windbreak instead of the fence which could "cause difficulties and expense". The president and Hugh McCallum were delegated to investigate.
The outing to Dundee had been a great success – 6 rinks had participated and they had been "royally entertained".
Nairn had lost by 2 shots v. Canadian visitors. Mr Eric Brown had suggested Nairn should join Strathspey Province.

CURLING - INCREASE IN CLUB ACTIVITIES
With 88 ordinary members, eight occasional members and four honorary members, satisfactory finances and increased activities, Nairn Curling Club had a most successful 1959-60 season.
This was reported at the Club annual general meeting in the Royal Hotel on May 6, Dr J. MacFadyen, president, presiding over a fair turn-out of members.
Mr G. G. Calder, hon. secretary and treasurer, submitted a report showing that the finances were in a good state.
The President gave a resume of the year's activities, stating they had had good ice and had completed most of the competitions. The Park Cup had been won by Mr E. F. Brown; President's kettle by Mr Wm. Macdonald; The Brown Shield by Mr Jas. McLeod and the Club had won the District Medal against Highland (Inverness).

Six rinks had a most enjoyable outing to Dundee; two rinks had taken part in the Highland bonspiel at Perth; and they had played the Canadians, also at Perth, where they were down by only two shots. After giving other details the President, expressed satisfaction at the increase in young members taking, an interest.

The meeting decided to enter a rink for the Scottish championships in January, 1961.
12th October 1960 - General Meeting
The passing of Alex Fraser and Jack Bookless(Inverness) was noted. Mr A Gunn was appointed assistant Sec/Treas. 44 players had entered the Park Cup.

CURLING
Rinks For Championship - For the first time Nairn Curling Club are to put forward two rinks for the Scottish championships in January.
This was decided at the well attended annual autumn meeting at which Dr J. Macfadyen, president, presided. At the outset sympathetic reference was made to the loss curling in the area had sustained bv the passing of Mr Alex. Fraser, Nairn, and Mr J. T. Bookless, Inverness. .
It was intimated that handsome new badges had been obtained and that these were available to members at 4s each. Good progress in improving the lighting and in repairs to the pond were reported, while a new score board has been ordered.
Forty-five players entered for the Park Challenge Cup, to be played for on the knock-out principle-— this was the biggest entry for many years. The annual points game for the President's Kettle is due to take place, ice permitting, on Dec. 24, Jan. 2, or on any evening. The David Brown Jubilee Shield competition will also be competed for.
A. Gunn agreed to take the office of hon. assistant secretary. The date of the annual dinner was provisionally fixed for February 10th next.

CURLING - WIN FOR THE YOUNGSTERS
At the week end a challenge match at Nairn pond between the “over-forties” and the “under-forties” was played, the youngsters winning by 12 shots to 6.

Rev T Morrison resigned as chaplain on taking up a charge at Blackburn. It was suggested that Mr R Gordon may form a work-party to erect a fence as a wind-break. A Subscription (£1) had been paid to Inverness and Strathspey Province.
