In this and in other reports of the period, the Auldearn club is referred to as the Nairnshire Curling Club. Auldearn was really a "Town" and "County" club and in many club matches, one played against the other.
16th January 1889
The ammended draw was advertised for the great North of Scotland Bonspiel to be played at Blairs Loch, on Altyre Estate, near Forres.
This is a good indicator of the number of active clubs in the North at that time.
20th February, 1889
The weather: During the week the weather has been very variable. The snow partially disappeared by Thursday and frost succeeded. The ice on the lochs on Friday promised skating and curling, but a fresh came on Saturday, and when the members of the Curling Club met on that day, they had to abandon their game in consequence of some inches of water covering the rinks.
29th March, 1889
The Nairnshire Telegraph reported: Curlers Ball: - On Friday evening a ball was given by the Auldearn Curling Club in the Dunbar Memorial Hall, Auldearn. There was a large and fashionable attendance, and the ball was regarded as the most successful of the season in the district. The hall was very beautifully decorated and excellent music was supplied by an orchestral party from Nairn. The report included a list of attendees.
