The Scotsman reported on the funeral of Viscount Finlay at Nairn.
"The funeral of Viscount Finlay of Nairn took place to Nairn Cemetery yesterday forenoon. Crowds lined the High Street as the cortege proceeded from thr railway station to the family burial ground, and blinds were drawn in all the shops and private houses along the route. A flag was hoisted at half mast on the County Buildings, and minute tolls pealed from the church bell. There was an exceedingly large assemblage of mourners, including representatives of most of the county families in the North. Nairn Town and County Councils and other public bodies attended, as also did representatives of the public boards of Inverness and Moray."
