The following pages chart the history of curling in Nairnshire by means of abstracts from local newspapers, principally the Nairnshire Telegraph, reprints from the annual reports of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club, and excerpts from the minute books of Nairnshire Curling Clubs. Where relevant, these records are prefaced with a commentary on their relevance to the overall history of Nairn curling. Hopefully these commentaries will aid the reader to trace the evolution of ad-hoc curling in the mid nineteenth century, through to the organisation of RCCC registered clubs at the end of the nineteenth and beginning of the twentieth centuries, and hence to present day club and province curling.
Since the history of individual Nairnshire curling clubs is inextricably linked to that of the Nairnshire Curling Association (the precursor of Moray Province (West) as it became in 1994), the separate site page with that heading should be browsed in parallel to this one.
The pages are searchable, using the "Search this site" box at the top right of the page, and entering a keyword relating to the search.
