Le présent de l’indicatif des verbes irréguliers
They need to be memorized because they don’t follow a regular pattern.
Some -ir verbs (dormir, partir, sentir, servir, sortir, mentir) follow this pattern: -s, -s, -t, -ons, -ez, ent.
The verbs prendre, apprendre, comprendre, surprendre differ from regular -re verbs in the plural.

Other verbs can be grouped because they have the same endings: -s, -s, -t, -ons, -ez, -ent.
These verbs have one stem in the singular and another in the plural.
For example, Je mets (one t), nous mettons, vous mettez, ils mettent.
Croire et voir: one stem for je, tu, il/elle/on, and a different stem for nous and vous.
Some verbs have three different stems: singular, nous/vous, and ils/elles.
