You say 'Nadrik would rather die than do what is wrong.'
Aerahan nods at you.
You say 'Evil will do anything to preserve their lord.'
Aerahan says 'Aye, Father Corwen.'
You say 'So we cannot win.'
You ponder.
You tell Mercerion 'May I have an audience?'
Mercerion tells you 'I am within the Temple of Nadrik, Brother.'
You say 'I meet with the Emperor in the Temple.'
The Temple of Nadrik
[Exits: north ]
A marble glass case stands off to the side.
(Golden Aura) Kyrlynn Mamoritai is here.
(Golden Aura) Mercerion Mamoritai is here.
A statue of the god Nadrik stands here appearing to keep watch.
You salute.
You say 'Hail.'
Mercerion says (to You) 'Greetings.'
Kyrlynn tips her head forward slightly in respect.
You say 'I am most uncomfortable with our dilemma.'
Caenarfon puts his arms into the folds of his robes.
You say 'I cannot see us unscathed.'
Mercerion says (to You) 'While I agree, I do not see much of a choice, either.'
You say 'We know that Nadrik would rather die that join with Evil.'
You say 'We know that Evil will do anything to preserve their Lord.'
You say 'I cannot think of a sincere argument other than to forsake our own cause for the greater good and unity.'
You say 'But this falls hollow on the ears of one of Nadrik.'
Caenarfon puts his arms into the folds of his robes.
Mercerion says (to You) 'Morally we cannot win this. We know that already.'
You say 'I think perhaps our only way around this is political.'
You say 'We protest, and allow one of Austinian and those who believe in the greater good to make the call.'
Mercerion says (to You) 'Are you aware Siccara's healing is failing?'
You shake your head.
You say 'I have not been present at the events, nor shall I be apart from perhaps Saturday.'
Mercerion nods.
You say 'But by all accounts there are great things afoot.'
Mercerion says 'She's drained, from revealing what has happened.'

[ 24] Cayenna: Hell Week Quest #4 of #7 - Recap
Thu Feb 10 23:29:03 2011
To: All
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Gods battle continues and Siccara, having learned that Raije captured
and held both Austinian and Necrucifer, also recognized the large upset in
the magical balance as her own powers to heal would occasionally fade out.
It was with alarm that that she went to Kwainin and Kwainin to Drakkara, for
once all awkward and silent as they weighed the significance of this
information in silence. It was decided, with some trepidation, that each
would send out their own messengers into the realm to deliver this
information on the mortals below. Keys were sent to the mortal realm that
would hold the power to unlock a magical portal though Champions of Raije,
in hearing this rumor, set out as well to capture the keys first. Armed
with this information, the mortals set forth while the Gods watched from
high above, their gazes continuing to shift from the flickering
constellations in the skies to the happenings far below. But it was only a
small sigh that could be found when the last of the keys were found and
placed into the messengers hands, knowing that the battle was far from done
and that tomorrow would bring on yet another battle.
(to be continued - 8 pm system time Friday night)
You say 'So we know that Raije has captured them?'
Mercerion nods.
You say 'And do we know His intentions?'
You ponder.
Mercerion says 'It appears he intends to kill them both.'
You say 'I would not think he would kill them.'
You say 'To what purpose?'
Mercerion says (to You) 'I could not begin to guess the purpose, but Kwainin himself is aiding against Raije's efforts'
You say 'Perhaps the right thing to do is not to join.'
You say 'We know this in our hearts.'
Mercerion says (to You) 'I cannot agree to that.'
Mercerion says (to You) 'Condemn me or not, Right now the Light needs unity.'
You say 'You would risk all for the life of our Lord who has said he would rather die than assist Evil?'
Mercerion says (to You) 'If we protest aiding the Father, we will fracture what little unity we've gained.'
You say 'Unity is political. We are moral men of the cloth.'
You say 'Although it appears you are both.'
You grin.
Mercerion says (to You) 'I have almost always been, brother.'
Mercerion chuckles.
Mercerion says (to You) 'I used to drive Bolter... what's the term... Batty?'
You say 'You may receive spiritual fallout with such a decision.'
Mercerion says (to You) 'One I am prepared to suffer for the Greater good of the Light.'
You say 'Those words were spoken by Austinian.'
You say 'Nadrik has spoken of a more difficult road.'
Mercerion says (to You) 'Both are in Peril at current.'
Mercerion says (to You) 'If we live by one of their paths, we may lose them both.'
You say 'But you will counsel to those present that the greater good is more important than what is the right thing to do.'
Mercerion says (to You) 'In this case, there is right and wrong in both choices.'
You say 'I am ill at ease Brother Mercerion.'
Kyrlynn says softly 'How is it the right thing to do. What will it do to the light if we lose Austinian? Is there even a chance of saving Nadrik if that happens?'
I am a great believer in what is right taking us to divinity.
You say 'I am a great believer in what is right taking us to divinity.'
You say 'He has agreed that in the past.'
You say 'This is not a game of chess Brother Mercerion.'
You say 'This is ideology, and what our Lord has taught us.'
Mercerion says (to You) 'I am aware of this.'
You say 'We are in disagreement then of what the greater evil is.'
You say 'I find myself oddly aligned to the Cardinal in this instance.'
Mercerion says (to You) 'Perhaps that is a fitting comparison.'
You say 'One which does not help us. We know how that tale ends.'
Kyrlynn lightly rubs her neck and moves to sit among the pews.
You say 'But I shall trust in the wisdom of Raije I feel.'
You say 'I do not think he will follow through in his threat to slay them both.'
You say 'This is not his style.'
You say 'That is a mark of Evil, not one of Balance who loves war.'
Mercerion folds his hands into the sleeves of his robes.
You say (to Kyrlynn) 'What is your opinion Sister Kyrlynn?'
You say (to Kyrlynn) 'The Brothers are ill at ease with their choices.'
Mercerion says 'We were told by Siccara directly that it was Raije.'
Mercerion shrugs.
Mercerion says 'I have trouble doubting Her.'
You say 'That does not put me at ease Brother Mercerion.'
You say 'Our choice remains.'
Kyrlynn says softly (to You) 'I am in agreement with Mercerion. As I said, what if Austinian dies because of this, then what becomes of the light or our chances of saving Nadrik then?'
You say 'Yes, that is the position of the greater good.'
You say 'More of political calculation than of what lies within right action.'
Mercerion chuckles.
You say 'I can see where you are coming from. In turning from what we believe in, our chances are increased.'
You say 'Does this mean that we believe wrongly?'
Mercerion says (to You) 'When we bring Nadrik down from the moon.'
Mercerion says (to You) 'I will ask Him directly, if in choosing what I believe we need to, if I chose wrongly.'
You say 'I pray you have that opportunity Brother Mercerion.'
Mercerion says (to You) 'If I am wrong, I will gladly face His pennance.'
Mercerion says (to You) 'I will have that opportunity.'
You say 'I pray we come out of this unscathed. It will undoubtedly be used against us should we side with Evil.'
Kyrlynn says softly 'It is not a political decision for me. I do not believe it is right to allow Austinian to die when we can stop it.'
You say 'Even if he has told us that he would rather die than have us work with Evil?'
You say 'If I were to choose a path that my Lord would rather die that do, then I would not have a clear conscience.'
Kyrlynn says softly (to You) 'He would but would he rather His father?'
Mercerion says (to You) 'No one is twisting your arm, Brother.'
You say 'This discussion has helped.'
You say 'As discussion always does.'
You say 'That is what honor is about, right action.'
You say 'And the will to follow it through, no matter the consequences.'
Kyrlynn says softly 'It is easy for me to say I will sacrifice myself and my honor but I couldn't say that for Mercerion. Would He say that if anyone else where at risk besides Him?'
You say 'Tell the truth, even if it leads to your death.'
You say 'And such like.'
You say 'I do not seek argument, only a way around this.'
You say 'But around this issue I cannot see salvation.'
You say 'One way, we may lose Austinian.'
You say 'But doing what is right.'
Mercerion says (to You) 'Such is perhaps why Mortals sin, and can be forgiven.'
You say 'The other way, we conspire against his holy law.'
Mercerion says (to You) 'Perhaps this is why the Gods seek our aid. We are capable of such things, where they may not be.'
You say 'I don't think we can use the recanting of sin as an escape from every situation.'
You say 'Otherwise I'm sure evil would have thought of that long ago.'
Mercerion smiles at you.
Mercerion says (to You) 'I don't like having to side with them any more than you.'
You say 'I know Brother.'
You say 'But there are consequences to every action.'
Mercerion says (to You) 'But I am not about to let Austinian and the Light die.'
Mercerion nods at you.
You frown.
You say 'Good, not the Light!'
Caenarfon goes on a tirade about how this is about Good and Evil!
You say 'Dark and Light are only Evil's attempt to make itself sound palatable.'
Mercerion says (to You) 'Good is an ideology, and therefore cannot be slain, so long as one believes.'
You say 'Evil will stand together and join with us.'
You say 'But although I will be present, there will be those who will refuse to side with Evil.'
You say 'What will you do in that instance Brother?'
You say 'You'd better have one helluva speech prepared'
Mercerion says (to You) 'I intend to.'
You say 'We saw what happened in the first shard fight.'
You say 'Good is naturally disadvantaged in our options.'
Mercerion says (to You) 'And I've seen what's happened in every fight since.'
You say 'And in this instance, it may kill us.'

(Glowing) Before you is a stone altar to Austinian, Father of Goodness.
A fountain of great beauty stands by the altar.
Seating is available on hardwood pews.
(Blue Aura) (Glowing) The Clan Wars X Championship Trophy stands here.
(Golden Aura) Aerahan Mamoritai is here.
(Golden Aura) Jornhya, priest to Austinian stands here waiting to hear your prayers.
You pray, saying "Upon this Day of Thunder, 3rd the Month of the Long Shadows I spoke to Brother Mercerion. We spoke of our choice of choosing to join with Evil and save Austinian.".
The gods have received your prayers.
You pray, saying "His position was we ought to do everything to save Austinian as we could, whereas I favored trusting the Balance of Raije and concentrating on the 'right action' that is Nadrik himself said he would rather die than have his followers aiding evil. The conversation will be included within my letters shortly".
The gods have received your prayers.
Aerahan says (to You) 'Fruitful discussion, Sir?'
You say 'I spoke with the Emperor.'
You say 'He intends to follow the path of the greater good.'
You say 'And work with Evil to save Austinian.'
Aerahan nods slowly.
You say 'It's... a position.'
You grimace.
Aerahan says (to You) 'May I ask your thoughts on the situtation?'
You say 'Goodness lies in right action.'
You say 'What we decide here...'
Caenarfon taps Aerahan on his helmet.
You say '... and here....'
Caenarfon taps Aerahan on his heart.
You say '... will determine if we are Good men, or not.'
You say 'Nadrik has stated he would rather die that assist Evil's fell purpose.'
You say 'However, we have seen this in the quest for the first shard.'
You say 'Good fell because it was not unified.'
Aerahan listens close to Caenarfon.
You say 'Brother Mercerion feels that the greater good, and Unity are more important than doing what is right.'
You say 'Good will be split with the dilemma.'
Aerahan nods at you.
You say 'Evil will stab us when they feel the first opportunity.'
You say 'The odds are not upon our side.'
Aerahan says 'No, they are not.'
Aerahan says 'As I have sat here this morning, my thoughts keep lending to the hope that in the coming challenges we will only need to cooperate with them so far as not to strike against them upon the field.'
You say 'That is a hope.'
You say 'But we would be doing something together.'
You say 'I would hope we could say Evil could have our aid, if only the purpose was to release our Lords from Raije's clutches.'
You say 'I have no issue with Balance or Raije, for what ever reason he has chosen to do this.'
Aerahan nods slowly, thinking.
Aerahan says (to You) 'Father Corwen, as you said, the darkness will pounce upon the first opportunity to betray. Is there.. Any thoughts at all at the prospect of letting the Lord of Darkness fall? This crisis creates such an opportunity for as also to strike at evil.'
You say 'Which is what they are thinking for us.'
You say 'Ultimately, we cannot trust them.'
You say 'But they can trust us.'
You say 'We cannot offer the right action, only when it suits Necrucifer's inconvenience. '
Aerahan says 'True enough.'
You tell Arasan 'We have an interesting dilemma Brother Arasan, I hope we can discuss it soon.'
Arasan tells you 'What is your dilemma?'
You tell Arasan 'To do the wrong thing and aid Evil, or to do the right thing and risk your Lord.'
Arasan tells you 'I will do what I must to save Austinian so long as I walk in the Light. If I am punished and he is saved that is enough for me.'
You tell Arasan 'Then you are in less of a tight spot than I.'
You tell Arasan 'Nadrik has told us that he would rather die that aid Evil.'
Arasan tells you 'If we do not work together even with a temporary alliance then we lose everything. I would rather save the Father and through him others of the Light then watch the world burn under War.'
You tell Arasan 'Take care, Evil will stab us in the back at the first opportunity.'
You tell Arasan 'And will use that we are dishonorable for working with them.'
Arasan tells you 'I work with them reluctantly, but always on our guard.'
Arasan tells you 'I understand the issues between working together, but War is upon us in this fight. And the gods of Light and Darkness and Neutrality ask us to work together to save them.'
Arasan tells you 'So I will in the name of Austinian do so even if I dislike working with Evil.'
You tell Arasan 'Good has asked us to work with Evil?'
Arasan tells you 'The Messengers of Light and Darkness asked us to put aside our differences to save them.'
You tell Arasan 'Ah, well that changes things I suppose!'
You tell Arasan 'The dilemma is theirs then and not our own.'
Arasan tells you 'Best always to get all the information it seems. Indeed. We nearly lost everything when they did not listen to their messenger and focused on fighting us.'
Arasan tells you 'If we didn't stop them with songs of peace, both Austinian and Necrucifer would be dead now.'
You tell Arasan 'How did it happen?'
Arasan tells you 'The constellations disappeared once we arrived where Austinian's constellation once stood and spoke with the Messenger.'
Arasan tells you 'Evil arrived and attacked us without provocation. The messengers shouted if the fight continues both our Father gods would die.'
You tell Arasan 'So that is where we are up to?'
Arasan tells you 'Indeed the burden is on them as the Light now works in conjunction with Neutrality.'
You tell Arasan 'Does Evil come willingly?'
Arasan tells you 'Janic of Verminassa agreed that we have to have a truce to save them both.'
You tell Arasan 'What of Shadow and Bloodlust?'
Arasan tells you 'They respect the truce during the fight, but until then our normal battles continue.'
You tell Arasan 'We risk much.'
Arasan tells you 'They know the cost on focusing on us if it causes Necrucifer to die.'
Arasan tells you 'We indeed risk much but we do what we must for Austinian to return to safety.'
Arasan tells you 'I simply hope it will be at a cost that we can bear.'
You tell Arasan 'If Necucifer is saved, they will turn on us as we seek to save Austinian.'
reply I wish you the best of luck Brother Arasan.
You tell Arasan 'I wish you the best of luck Brother Arasan.'
Arasan tells you 'I am under the impression we must fight Raije to save both.'
You tell Arasan 'I do not understand why Raije has done this?'
Arasan tells you 'That is indeed the true question.'
You tell Arasan 'If He has done this, why are Balance with us?'
Arasan tells you 'Because Kwainin sees this an upset of Balance. And has commanded them to assist us.'
You tell Arasan 'So Raije has acted independently?'
Arasan tells you 'There are three theories, one is that it is a Malachive plot somehow.'
Arasan tells you 'Second, it is for Raije to make a greater war so he can be pleased.'
Arasan tells you 'And the third which is my personal one, this is Raije's attempt to unify us so we can focus on fighting Malachive as a united force.'
You tell Arasan 'That would be most advantageous.'
Arasan tells you 'Indeed, but only time will tell.'
You tell Arasan 'Although that would mean we would fight alongside Evil.'
Arasan tells you 'Agreed. Our backs are to the wall, there will be prices to be paid.'
