Men and women of Gareths,
Instances have been brought to my attention of certain behaviours
that seem to recur amongst those who serve.
With this missive I seek to clarify any confusions that may exist
and remove any excuse of ignorance from those who choose to act
contrary to what is expected of any whom wears Gareth's insignia.
1. Speaking in public, taunting and responding to taunts.
Only knights and officers have the privilege of speaking in
public. This privilege is not a right and may be revoked
by any senior officer at any time.
2. Standing regulations and rules of engagement.
You are expected to be aware of Keep regulations and rules of
engagement. Failure know these are not an excuse and will not
constitute a valid reason to avoid being disciplined.
(These may be found upon the following scrolls: Welcome to Knighthood, The Code of Conduct, Protocols, Policies, and the Clan Message of the Day.)
3. Respect for those of senior rank.
Men and women of Gareths are expected to be familiar with the
rank structure of the Keep. Each are expected to comply with
the direction of more senior officers of the Keep. If you disagree
with a lawfully issued order, address the issue privately with the
officer or superior issuing the order - unseemly bickering or
contradicting the superior in public is considered unknightly
conduct and will be dealt with accordingly.
4. Maintaining fellowship and camaraderie.
We all who wear the insignia of this Keep, it is expected that our
first loyalty is to others of this Keep. It is expected of senior
knights that they will lead battle patrols of knights, to teach and
encourage inexperienced knights, squires and pages. Remember well,
we are here for the cause of this Keep, not individual ambition nor
personal crusade, be it for one's own kill tally or any other record
one may come to attempt to hoist over the cause of this Keep.
If any of these mentioned here require further explanation, seek
me out for explanation. If any of these offend you, pack your bags,
then seek me out.
d'Aggravaine, Crown.
Here is written the expected behavior for a Page, Squire, and Knight.
Here is a guide on how to properly salute and address a member of the clan.
There is to be no dueling or sparring with any of our enemies. We are at war,
not a friendly game of tiddlywinks .. combat is reserved for the honorable
field, not the training exercises of the arena. This applies to all those
who are enemies of the Keep and evil at heart.
We are of the Keep of Gareth, and as such we uphold the Light and
promote honor chiefly amongst its virtues.
We do not assist or lend nor receive aid from those of darken aura under
any circumstances, unless it is to save their souls and guide them to the
Light, even in this, judgment needs be exercised and each man and woman
of this Keep will be held to account for any action such.
When attacked outside the Keep, you are to communicate to the clan,
where and whom attacks you.
You are expected to be aware who are your likely foes, and who can be
expected to aide you from the Keep.
For example, Help, Jixpk, Bloodlust, not engaging .. or somesuch ..
All those in the Keep are expected to make their priority the assistance of
their brothers or sisters of the Keep who encounter hazard. At times,
assistance may be slow in coming, for there are many matters outside our
control at a given instant.
So whilst one may expect assistance, the decision to continue the engagement
or withdraw must be made with an understanding of the tactical situation.
You enter this Keep to serve the Light, taking battle to the ungodly.
Squires and pages are expected to devote themselves to their hone their
skills, actively participate in patrols, complete their tasks and earning
their spurs.
Amorous distractions are frowned upon, and formal courtships leading to
sacred matrimony are allowed only to those who have earned their spurs.
The altar room is our place of fellowship and communion. It is the
place of those who are alert and those actively engaging in patrol. There
are ample places of quiet in the Keep for those who wish to meditate.
Also, please prepare your armor with blessings and fireproofing for battle
away from where other Knights are conversing or trying to meditate.
Should you be found unresponsive in the Altar Room, be certain, you will be
made to answer for it. Note well, any who anger the Gods by ignoring their
call, these who are punished for this offense will find themselves removed
summarily from the Keep.
The conditions, curriculum, and trials expected of each who would earn these ranks within the clan.
The expected tasks of one who seeks the Guardians, Clerists, or Lance, as well as the tasks expected
of those who would become officers.

In light of recent events and comments thrown around a clarification
of procedures is needed.
Knighthood is a martial organisation and as as such has a chain of
command which should be followed. We are not a democracy, we are a
disciplined military organisation. Your superior officer's word is
expected to be followed.
If there is issue with the command given, you are to speak with your
immediate superior. In the case of Pages and Squires it may be the
Knight you serve, or an officer of your Order.
If the person in question is a General then the High Justice should
be approached.
When contacting a superior officer this should be done in private or
via a private missive to the relevant person. All issues should be
resolved within one week. If you do not receive a response in that
time, it may be escalated to the next highest rank, again in private.
This process is to ensure that any differences of opinion are resolved
in a constructive manner in keeping with the principles of this Keep.
Dame Kiery Elistar
Lady of Justice
Every Knight from Page to General will display an insignia of Gareth's Keep
in view of the public eye. This rank is considered your official title for
any correspondence. A bright blue dye is the official color, along with light
grey or white.
Acceptable examples are as follows:
Page:
Page of the Knighthood
Page of Gareth's Keep
Squire:
Squire to <Name of Knight Sponsor>
Knight:
Knight of the Shield
Knight of the Shield:Guardian
Knight of the Shield:Clerist
Knight of the Lance
Knight of the Crown
Officers:
<Officer Rank> of the <Order>
example:
Colonel of the Shield
Generals:
General of the <Order>
Lord Knight of the <Order>
Lady Knight of the <Order>
Official Knighthood posts include: High Clerist, Lorekeeper, Weaponsmaster,
and High Justice.
These should be noted in your insignia in some fashion. The traditional style is:
<Post> of Knighthood
example:
Lorekeeper of Knighthood
Official titles granted to Knights by the Gods may be displayed in some
manner. It is recommended to find some way to include your current rank or
order along side this. Unless, of course, one's uniform starts to look a bit garish!
example:
Sentinel of Austinian (Lt:Crown)
Priests are permitted to place an insignia of the deity they serve on their uniform.
Similarly devout Knights may place an insignia of their deity or the Church of Light
upon their uniform.
Knights are not to be masked on the field or within the keep. Your comrades
should be able know you are about and not be confused by which swashbuckler
is friend or foe. Knights have nothing to hide, and will not conduct battle in
anonymity.
- Long standing policy confirmed by Lord Gwaine d'Aggravaine
If you are within the Keep, ensure you are visible at all times.
The exception of course is when you prepare to venture forth to train or
for combat.
Here is written a guide on where and when crucifixion of a corpse is appropriate.
If a knight of any rank wishes to return to their guild for basic training, or
seek out a new guild to retrain, they should speak or write the Generals, and
obtain their permission. If this leave will take more than three weeks, it
should be noted to the Shield General and Lorekeeper so that our records of
the knight on leave may be updated. A list of those Knights on extended
leave can be found on the scroll: Aspirants and Knights on Leave.
No Knight is permitted to venture into the Underworld without either
a patrol comprised of at least five in all or permission from a senior
officer.
It is strongly recommended that at least two proficient healers are with
the party, as well as at least two who are skilled fighters.
Anysse Renetar
General of the Shield
To honor the request made by the Metallic Wing, no member of the Knighthood
will trespass into the Dragonvale. The only people welcome there are dragons.
If you have interest in research there, our library provides copies of many of the
texts here or you may humbly beseech an Elder of the Metallic Wing for aid.

Master Darkrock,
Matters of wardship in the Keep are clear. The oath to the Keep and the
Light is pre-eminent above all else.
Any oaths of wardship taken are secondary to the rules and regulations of the
Keep. Anyone who breaks Keep policy regarding in favour of their oath to
their ward or any other allegiance will find themselves discplined for such
infraction.
d'Aggravaine. Crown.
To initiate a mutiny, an officer in the order of the crown
must call for a vote of no-confidence. If either the generals of the shield
or lance say that the General does not have the order's confidence, all
officers may elect a new Crown Knight to lead. Generals of the Shield and
Lance may be replaced by the General of the Crown at any time.
