Conversation with Arthais about Honor

You tell Arthais 'Hail.'

Arthais tells you 'Greetings.'

You tell Arthais 'Would you be parley to a conversation about why you wish to turn from Nadrik?'

Arthais tells you 'I can do it through these means, if that settles just fine with you?'

You tell Arthais 'That is fine with me, although it is more personable if we are together.'

You tell Arthais 'Perhaps a good start is to begin with your tale.'

You tell Arthais 'And why you do not find Nadrik's way to suit your faith?'

You tell Arthais 'I will not try to dissuade you, although I will attempt to clear any misconceptions from Cardinal Bolter's rather zealous faith.'

Arthais tells you 'If you so wish. I was never one for sermons.. however speaking to a priest a long time ago I found that Nadrik and His church believed in truth, honor, and justice. These are the same values I hold dear to my heart.'

You tell Arthais 'Aye, they are noble aspirations.'

Arthais tells you 'So after speaking I began my association with the church. I went to a few sermons however it always seemed to be preaching about killing the wicked and vile beings of this world.'

You tell Arthais 'Certainly not the foremost premise of honor is it?'

Arthais tells you 'Not entirely, no. I am a Marshal.. War is my profession. However I cannot bring myself to make War against a people simply because of their faith alone.'

You tell Arthais 'We quite agree in Gareth. We follow the law and ideological truth.'

Arthais tells you 'And... He wishes it. Forgive me but I believe in Truth, Justice, and Honor for all. If they do wicked things, then what they do will warrant the proper punishment. Reason without emotion.. to defend those who are unable to defend themselves no matter walk faith they call their own.'

You tell Arthais 'For example it is not the policy of this Keep to embark on genocide. Cardinal Bolter was exiled for his views upon this, for they are not those of Nadrik, nor this Keep.'

You tell Arthais 'I quite agree Marshal.'

Arthais tells you 'Exiled you say?'

You tell Arthais 'Indeed. The propoganda of the time was that this was the Keep's and Nadrik's position.'

You tell Arthais 'Of course, if a goblin does wrong, or evil then he is responsible for his actions to the Law'

You tell Arthais 'But to condemn a race for a tendency to evil is madness.'

You tell Arthais 'We all have our responsibilities to the Law.'

You tell Arthais 'However, the propoganda was just that. Nadrik's position is not one of racial genocide.'

Arthais tells you 'I... had wish I knew this. The largest part of removing myself from His fold was indeed... the Cardinal.'

You tell Arthais 'Aye, there have been many complaints against his methods'

You tell Arthais 'But let me explain his motives to you.'

You tell Arthais 'He is an older knight, set in his ways.'

You tell Arthais 'Much has he fought against evil, and much has been been taken advantage and exploited for his shows of honor to an evil enemy.'

You tell Arthais 'So his limits of tolerance have become few in wishing Good to prevail.'

You tell Arthais 'He has seen a lot of evil in his time, and Nadrik, being a warrior God as well as He of Honor, Bolter has taken the warrior side.'

You tell Arthais 'I have seen much work by the priests of other faiths to twist words and condemn.'

Arthais tells you 'Indeed.'

You tell Arthais 'The Cardinal has his own views, and those are his responsibility.'

You tell Arthais 'But I only wish for the true nature of honor to Nadrik be better understood.'

You tell Arthais 'As the war of words against it with the Cardinal's fuel has done much to bring honor into disrepute.'

Arthais tells you 'I remember that I found myself to agree with one that followed Darkness. He said that the Cardinal preached, for the most part, Honor for the Light and not all.. I did not believe this.'

You tell Arthais 'You are correct. Honor is a universal, though each individual has their own methods.'

You tell Arthais 'Only those of Good have aspiration to maintain it. Those of evil have little aspiration for honor bar its use to get what they want.'

You tell Arthais 'But the mortal good are as fallible as the mortal evil wish them to be. What separates us is that aspiration.'

Arthais tells you 'I see.. you speak wisely.'

You tell Arthais 'I assume your conversion has already taken place?'

You tell Arthais 'If it has, fear not. Kwainin will guide you.'

Arthais tells you 'Not fully.. I have not felt the embrace yet. I have spoken with the Sultana many times and prayed many times. It is hard for me nwo that I have recieved word of the Cardinal's exile.'

You tell Arthais 'He is now with Althainia.'

You tell Arthais 'But this is your decision Marshal. I will not tempt you back to the fold if you do not wish it.'

You tell Arthais 'We of Honor and Nadrik believe in the responsibility of our own decisions.'

You tell Arthais 'And we bear the fruits, responsibilities and consequences for our actions.'

Arthais tells you 'Indeed. And part of it is because I do not wish to turn my back on something I already set my mind to before.. however I do find myself questioning what I wish now.'

You tell Arthais 'That is your call Marshal, but a closed mind will do you no favor.'

You tell Arthais 'Both ways are reputable paths. Nadrik will stand for good, light and honor.'

You tell Arthais 'Kwainin for balance of all things in the middle path, and tolerance and understanding of both good and evil. And their balance.'

Arthais tells you 'Indeed. I find myself living a life with both the views of those of Neutrality and the views of Nadrik himself.. which is easy to do when not fully committed I suppose.'

You tell Arthais 'Armed with the knowledge you now hold now, you are well armed to assess your position, and your faith in clarity.'

You tell Arthais 'May I ask what motivates you Marshal?'

You tell Arthais 'Our motivations for what we wish, see and believe in Algoron goes far to determine our ethics, and our path.'

Arthais tells you 'The pursuit of justice. The protection of my people.. to serve something greater than myself for the common good of all.'

You tell Arthais 'Indeed, that is your role Marshal. What is the best way to protect your people, and protect them from?'

You tell Arthais 'And how do you wish to bring your people to follow the moral ways of the common good whilst protecting them?'

Arthais tells you 'I wish for them to embrace Arkane as the Kingdom it is. I wish for them to embrace what makes each person unique.. even faith.'

Arthais tells you 'The best way for me to protect my people is to continue my service in the Military. As I said... I am a man of War. Not a Lord, not a politician.. not a King. A simple man with a sword and a shield.'

You tell Arthais 'Indeed Marshal, our faith is our own, to be chosen by us. It is not any man or woman's right to enforce a faith upon us.'

Arthais tells you 'Speaking of a holy crusade had me first question the motives of the Church.. this did not sit well with me.'

You tell Arthais 'Aye, and what does a man of military require to protect his people?'

You tell Arthais 'And to which Holy Crusade do you refer?'

Arthais tells you 'The faith of his people behind him. The faith of his men to follow him. The strength of all his people. He needs to also realize his place within his own faith for his Kingdom and himself.'

You tell Arthais 'Aye, a martial leader must hold the respect of his peers. Or they will not follow him.'

Arthais tells you 'I speak of a crusade to rid the world of those to follow Darkness.'

A second meeting

You tell Arthais 'Hail Marshall.'

Arthais tells you 'Greetings.'

You tell Arthais 'Are you available?'

Arthais tells you 'Indeed I am.'

You tell Arthais 'I have been considering your dilemma and have a question.'

Arthais tells you 'Please, do ask.'

You tell Arthais 'How do you wish for your men to act?'

Arthais tells you 'My men? I wish for them to act with honor and common decency to everyone.'

You tell Arthais 'And who is the main adversary of Arkane?'

Arthais tells you 'In all honesty it would be those to the north, Verminasia.'

You tell Arthais 'I see. Does Arkane tend towards the good? The neutral?'

Arthais tells you 'Arkane is a neutral kingdom. We believe in keeping it that way for the common good of our people.'

You tell Arthais 'What does neutrality have to do with 'common good' in your opinion?'

Arthais tells you 'Common good in my opinion is something everyone is entitled to. If one of the darkness is dying of starvation and you are able to help him, the good thing to do is to feed him. I suppose that is the best way I can put it.'

You tell Arthais 'I was considering two roles for you, one of Nadrik, and one of Raije.'

Arthais tells you 'I see.'

You tell Arthais 'Raije encompasses all faiths, which would suit your purpose. He is a master of war which speaks to you as well. However he lacks purpose to His fight, so long as there is battle, and it is good battle then He is content.'

Arthais tells you 'Indeed.. I've thought of that.'

You tell Arthais 'Nadrik upon the other hand demands the moral position of who strives to be good and virtuous. He who wishes to lead his men in respect and with charisma so that he is followed no matter what the order. A moral bastion at their leader's behest, so that they might aspire to be as great as him.'

You tell Arthais 'So really, if you are fighting 'for' something, or across the spectrum.'

Arthais tells you 'I understand.'

You tell Arthais 'Both have strong draws for yourself, and I will respect your decision when you make it.'

You tell Arthais 'Because a man's faith is his own private concern. And not one for others to dictate.'

Arthais tells you 'Thinking more on it I believe that the largest reason why I decided to leave in the first place was the rule of the Cardinal.'

You tell Arthais 'But I am glad to have assisted you with the correct information for the decision of which is to be made.'

You tell Arthais 'Are you presently shunned?'

Arthais tells you 'I do not believe so. I still feel that I am apart of Nadrik's fold..'

You tell Arthais 'I can pray in your stead if you wish.'

You tell Arthais 'But that is your decision Marshall.'

Arthais tells you 'I believe I must find the answers within myself. I have much to think on. And the Sultana herself has been speaking to me but she knows not of the trouble I am having.'

You tell Arthais 'I will give you the space you need Marshal.'

Arthais tells you 'I thank you for your words, Priest.'

You tell Arthais 'My best wishes for the difficulties surrounding your dilemma.'
