This is written in the Dragonvale of what the Lance entails upon a lance of silver which symbolises the order which a silver dragon ought to find their warder.
Role of the Lance
The Order of the Lance is the second highest in the Knighthood. Knights of the Lance have proved themselves in battle, and are considered the elite fighting force within the Knighthood. The sword arm of the Knighthood, they are the powerful warriors, first to enter and last to leave the combat. Only those Knights of the Shield who prove themselves worthy in combat are considered for the Lance. This does not mean that yours is the hand that wields the sword, as there are many individual roles to play with the goal of defeating evil. At this time in the Knighthood, Lance Knights are taught courage and heroism. Lance Knights constantly fight evil, and through this struggle they further themselves in goodness.
According to the texts in the Crown Office historically the tasks have been Council to the Crown for the General, Supervision of Combat Training for the Colonel, Weaponsmaster for the Captains, Training of Knights for the Lieutenants.
Progression
-Completed the tasks required of a squire seeking the Lance
-know the role of your profession and utilise it to the benefit of Knighthood
-proven compentence in leading a keep assault
-proven compentence in leading patrols
-skilled in the art of pursuit
-shown the capability to teach others from your combat experience
-passed a review with a Lance Colonel or Higher.

Esteemed Council,
Stemmed in tradition, the Holy Order of the Lance has long been known
a prestigious brotherhood within the Knights of Gareth. One bearing the
sigils of the Lance can be presumed to be of tried stock. A proven element
of unfaltering goodness.
They serve as the foot forward of Gareth. When people speak of Knighthood
they speak of the Lance. The spearhead of our forces against evil, they are
the face of knighthood across the realms. Their deeds and words, more so
than anyone else, cannot falter for their words and deeds become the those
of the Knighthood as a whole: Crown, Shield and Lance.
They are the Cavalry, the trauma upon the battlefield that throws evil into
disarray and weakens the resolve of their commanders. The unflinching hard
face of Lord Nadrik's wrath and the Lady Siccara's lifeline to good soldiers
in peril.
Competency is their watchword. Each one can care for himself and another,
each a soldier and a leader. The Lance is chainmail tunic with no rusted
links. Each cast of the same pure steel and hammered true with our words
and code.
Steadfast in the equilibrium of the eight virtues, with special attention to
Compassion, Valour, Justice, and Honor. This order is the elite of
Knighthood, the best men and women we can offer and put in harm's way for
the good of the realm.
This is the Order of the Lance.
