They aspired to serve in the Kingdom's fleet.
THE BEGINNING
From the start, the people of Nordmaar, have been a tenacious bunch.
Wandering nomads of the Icelands, comprised of the toughest warriors, men
and women who fought for survival and strove for a place to call home.
Fighting harsh winds and the most brutal of climates, they had done just
that. Where others would surely fail and succumb to the elements, the
Icelandic people only grew stronger and more determined.
First records indicate that the first leader of the Icelandic people was one
by the name of Aastar MacGregor. A stout warrior and a wise leader, who's
faith in Cliath was unmatched by even the most devout of priests. According
to the old records that had been found, Alastar had sent forth numerous
scouting parties to find a place to call home, only to have a few of them
never return, their lives assumed lost. Being a man that would never give
up, he turned to his Lord and had spent numerous days and nights high upon a
hill in prayer to Cliath. After seven days he returned down the mountain,
back to his people, and spoke of the land he had been shown by his Lord.
They set forth towards this new direction, and after several weeks of hard
travel, they came across this Utopia that Alastar had seen. Lush forests,
valleys and rolling hillsides, all teeming with wildlife and natures own
creations. It was within these valleys that a new city was born. The city
of Nordmaar.
THE CLANS
The MacCallum Clan - Cryfder am Calon (Strength of Heart)
The MacCallum clan is Nordmaar's most influential clan since the heads of
this clan are the King and Queen themselves, William and Grainne. The
MacCallum's are also know to be some of the more intelligent Celts. They
begin schooling their children young and their studies never seem to end at
any age.
The Wallace Clan - Pro Libertate (For Freedom)
The Wallace clan is one of Nordmaar's more peaceful clans, until they are
wronged that is. They currently make up a good portion of the kingdom, many
Wallace's are high ranking officers in the army.
The MacLeod Clan - Muros aheneus esto (Be then a wall of brass)
The MacLeod clan has dominated the ranks of the Army since the clans unified
into Nordmaar. Today, that is still true. The MacLeod's take pride in
their clansmen as being high ranking army sergeants and officers. The
MacLeod's are one of Nordmaar's proudest clans.
The Gunn Clan - Aut Pax Aut Bellum (Either War or Peace)
The Gunn clan are known as Nordmaar's biggest and meanest Celts. These
Celts stand several inches taller than most of the Celts. They generally
fill up the enlisted ranks of the army. It is rumored that it takes three
men to defeat one Gunn.
The Bruce Clan - Fuimus (Our presence has been felt)
The Bruce's are one of Nordmaar's noblest clans. Some of the elders believe
strongly that their clan should still hold the crown, but they have pledged
their support to the MacCallum's to help end the clan wars. The Bruce clan
stays very active in politics and military matters.
The MacGregor Clan - S Rioghal Mo Dhream (Royal is my Race)
The MacGregor's were the Celtic people's first Royal family. And since
their departure from the throne, they have been treated almost as equals
with the current Royal family. The MacGregor's hold some distaste for the
Bruce clan due to earlier historical events, including the cause of the Clan
Wars. The MacGregors proudly have some of the highest ranking members of
the fleet in their clan. The majority of the MacGregors join the fleet,
many becoming officers.
The MacAllen Clan - Unoliaeth am Cartref (Unity of Home)
The MacAllen clan has members made up of many clansmen formerly from other
clans. They are united in their cause to protect the current royal family
and to never allow another clan wars to begin again. The MacAllen's are
respected and feared for being some of the most skilled fighters in all of
Nordmaar.
THE OGRE INVASIONS
For numerous years, the Icelandic people of Nordmaar, lived peacefully. The
several clans all residing within the same area in the city of Nordmaar.
But their peaceful existence was short lived, as the ogres of Gruntz and the
outlying areas had proceeded to gather and form armies in which to invade
and conquer the Icelandic continent, bringing forth a campaign of wars. For
every skirmish and war that the ogres had brought to the gates of Nordmaar,
one warrior stood out from them all, Bryant Gunn. Almost single handedly he
and the clan he led defeated and beat back the ogres until they gave up
entirely. He was touted as one of the clans greatest warriors.
CLANS UNITE
After long intense debates, after the ogre invasions ceased, it was agreed
upon by the current clan leaders that they should unite under one founding
body. Many vied for the position and arguements continued on for days.
Many thinking that perhaps the Gunns should lead after their show of
strength in defending their city, others argued that they were too brutal.
Each had their own ideals of who the leader should be, but near the end of
the deliberations, there was only one logical conclusion for them all. It
was finally determined that since it was the MacGregors who founded their
great city, it should be the MacGregors that also led them as well. Thus
the first King of Nordmaar was crowned. The son of Alastar MacGregor
himself, Drummond MacGregor.
YINN INVASION
For a few years, peace again had come to the Highlands, as it had become to
be known. The kingdom prospered and grew under the rule of their first
King. But what can only be known as the beginning for what will remain til
this day and in to the future, the cause of the hatred and dislike of the
yaenni.
It was at this time that the yaenni of Dae'tok had begun their campaign for
world domination, spreading forth to destroy all that stood within their
path. Many kingdoms and villages were destroyed from their campaigns, and
the Highlanders waited for what was to come. When that day finally came,
and the yaenni turned their attention to the gates of Nordmaar, it was the
Wallace clan that almost single handedly beat back an entire brigade of
yaenni. But their numbers were too vast and soon the Highlanders were
overrun and defeated by their army.
The Wallace clan, led by Laoghaire Wallace, gathered those that survived the
onslaught and began to make plans for a rebellion. In secret they had met
and conspired, until the time was just right, then they made their move.
The gathered in force and fought like never before to drive the yaenni back
northwards and out of the Highlands. The Kingdom of Nordmaar was once again
in the hands of the Highlanders.
BRUCES GAIN CONTROL
There was much dissension after the yaenni invasion. Some felt the King was
to blame for them almost losing their home and disgruntlement was found all
around. The Queen, Nairne MacGregor, had fallen ill from sickness and died,
leaving the couple childless. Drummond, distraught still over the loss of
his beloved, was near oblivious to the rumblings outside his door. He was
found one morning, brutally murdered within his chambers. The assailant
unknown.
This had thrown the clans in to upheaval, as there were no heirs in which to
claim the throne. Deliberations had begun again and it was all agreed by
the clans that the Bruces, who had shown great nobility and honorableness of
nature, should gain the crown. Thus, Cleary Bruce was named the new King of
Nordmaar.
CLAN WARS
Some still wondered how it was the former King was murdered, and would not
give up their search to find the truth. Rumors abounded about how the Bruce
clan itself had something to do with the assassination of Drummond
MacGregor. Several clans took sides and skirmishes began to break out as
they argued over the rumors. But as the Highland people are very prone to
quick and short tempers, these minor skirmishes soon broke out in to full
out wars.
Over numerous years, these wars lasted, causing the clans to nearly all be
destroyed. The Gunn clan, led by Gilroy Gunn, nearly defeated all of them,
until the Wallace and MacGregor clans had come to an agreement and joined
forces, defeating the Gunns. It was a time of great upheaval for the
Highlands and nearly all had done what the ogres and yaenni could not do,
destroyed them all.
THE MACCALLUM RISE TO POWER
With the clans nearly all destroyed, and the Gunns defeated, a council of
the heads of each clan met to try to end the war between them. All of the
clans agreed that the Bruce's should relinquish the crown to the MacCallum
clan. Surprisingly, not one of them agreed that the MacGregors should again
have that control. Thus, Cathal MacCallum, was crowned the King of
Nordmaar.
It was under his reign, that many of the greatest warriors and fighters from
each clan, banded together to form the MacAllen clan. Each having sworn a
sacred vow to protect the current Royal Family, regardless of who they might
be. Carlisle MacAllen became the first leader of the MacAllen clan.
BATTLE of MUTT BAY
The yinn had continued their onslaught on to the Highlands, skirmishes and
threats to destroy them being uttered from their mouths at every turn. One
evening, while the Queen was visiting within the Rose, a bandit had snuck in
and struck a blow to her head, slinging her over his shoulder and carried
her off.
They got as far as the Sea Mage before Maelduin MacAllen caught up and
slayed the yinn, rescuing the Queen. Harsh words were slung as dishonor was
brought to Queen Moira MacCallum, by Ryshana, a yinn of Eclipse. Cathal
issued forth a challenge, but Ryshana declined. Wryllish of Eclipse
stepping forth to take their place. Cathal was unfortunately slain.
The yinn once more rose and strove for world domination. This time they
targeted the Highlanders first, as a form of revenge. Many lives were lost
on both sides as the war raged through the Highlands and took to the sea.
The Nordmaarian flagship the Drochnathair, captained by Latrell Bruce,
finally ended the battle by sinking the yaenni ship, the Dae'Penzi.
Commanding NCO Maelduin MacAllen was killed during the battle, when a
cannonball struck him directly in the head as he stood at the helm. It was
the bloodiest of all battles between the yinn of Dae'tok and the Highlanders
of Nordmaar, and had become to be known as the Battle of Mutt Bay.
Shortly afterward, Ultan Wallace, was banished from the Kingdom, marked as
a traitor along with his wife Katheryne by the Queen Moira MacCallum. Ultan
Wallace was found guilty of trying to raise an army to take the throne for
himself, but for his bravery and past acts the Queen had only chosen to
banish him instead of executing him. He was later killed in a duel by Duke
Ellis MacCallum, Cathal's nephew.
THE MACCALLUMS
The yinn struck their hardest blow, when they kidnapped Queen Moira and her
young son, Prince William. Moira was rescued but there was no sign of
William. The yinn had hidden away the young prince to raise as their own,
to use him ultimately against Nordmaar. He was rescued, eventually, by a
group of Nordmaarians and brought home to eventually recover.
When Moira died, her son William became the new King of Nordmaar. He
eventually married Grainne MacAllen, a daughter of Bridgit and Collum
MacAllen. For several years they ruled, having three sons, Keaghan, Gabhan
and Darrigan. Keaghan being the oldest, became the heir to the throne.
The boys themselves, were much alike and yet very different. Keaghan
married Meckenizie MacLeod, to which they have a daughter, after much
strife, Emyrah. The second oldest, Gabhan, was declared a traitor to the
crown when he had attempted to slay Keaghan and garner the power for
himself. Being cast out and declared a traitor, proved to be too much to
bear for the young man and he took his life shortly thereafter. Darrigan,
the youngest, has gone his own path and travels the world. None have heard
anything from him and rumors abound that he met his end within a tavern.
When the heir to the throne came of age, his father abdicated from the
throne, wishing retirement to spend with his wife, and passed on the crown
to Keaghan. Making him the next King of Nordmaar and his wife, Meckenizie,
the Queen.
THE VIKINGS
Rumors were confirmed about a lost tribe of Northern people within the Highlands, when the lost people, driven out of their homes by the yinn, stormed upon Nordmaar's gates.
The Nordmaarians, refusing to give way to
these aggressive bunch fought valiantly against them. The Vikings however would not give up and a long battle ensued, eventually ending in a stalemate. Lord Gryss of the Vikings and the King, Keaghan MacCallum, met in long negotiations and it was determined that these Northern people would
join them within the city and become a part of their nation.
Several Highlanders have taken offense to the Vikings being within their city, but just as many have come to embrace them as their own. Regardless of such, they remain still pensive of one another.
Peace has reigned within the Highlands for the most part, save for the
occasional uprising of the yinn, or as of late the goblins of Darkonin.
But history is still to be written, and as is the way of life, things often
do change, but through it all the Highlanders will forever remain who they
are, survivors.
Addendum
The Lost Heir
For several years it was believed that the only child of King Keaghan Cathal
MacCallum and Queen Meckenizie MacCallum was brutally murdered on the eve
that the child was to be born. Viciously attacked by the Yinn Queen
Meckenizie MacCallum and Lady Meralynn Bruce were forcibly taken, held and
brutally beaten to near death. It was presumed at the time, as the Queen
was near to giving birth, that the child was taken from her by them and
murdered. For years the couple remained childless, but by the graces of
Cliath they soon had a new member to their family, Emyrah MacCallum.
Sixteen years had passed, when a pack of Yinn had begun regular assaults
upon the Highlands. What was different in this group was the fact that a
young human male, looking very much like the King was a part of them. The
Minister Shaunce MacLeod, Blaere MacCallum and Vianna Gunn aided King
Keaghan MacCallum in the tracking and trapping of this young boy and with
much interrogation of the captured Yinn it was founded and proclaimed that
this boy was the lost child of the King and Queen. The boy was used as part
of a nefarious scheme of the Yinn and their wizard, to infiltrate the
Highlands and bring them down. To say the least their tactics had failed
and the boy was declared and recognized as the Heir to the Throne and to be
known as Prince Teirnan MacCallum.
The Massacre
One of the most bloodiest and heinous acts ever committed to the Crown in
the entirety of Highland history. Shortly after the Prince was recovered,
the MacCallum clan gathered together to welcome their lost Prince home. The
wizard Yinn who was seen with the young prince prior at his recovery, once
more appeared. The Yinn doing something they had never before done,
impersonated by illusion that of the Nordmaarian guards. The Yinn attacked
swiftly, taking first the young Princess Emyrah, to draw the others.
Waiting for them upon the other side of a portal was the pack of Yinn.
Outnumbered the Royal family fell.
Forever the memories of Queen Grainne MacCallum, King William MacCallum,
Queen Meckenizie MacCallum and Princess Emyrah MacCallum will remain. To
this day the hunt for the Yinn continue, unknown to the Highlands as to
their identity and name of their Wizard.
The Thaxanos War
War had begun to greet the worlds. Tempers flaring and words flung about.
Since the time of Queen Moira MacCallum, a treaty and peace had forever been
held with the dwarves of Thaxanos. Word had been received that the dwarves
had suddenly aligned themselves with the Ganthians near to the Nordmaarian
border. The Ganthians themselves becoming restless and wanting for world
domination over other races.
Treaty talks with the dwarves and attempts to make them see reason fell upon
the deaf ears of the Thane, Grumf Thistlebeard. The Nordmaarians from this
point forward have been at war with them. No aggressions as of yet have
come to pass, as the dwarven military ship was sunk upon the coast of
Icewall.
The Ganthian War
With the alliance of the dwarves, the Ganthians, under their Emperor Vaegore
Gloran'di, decided to begin their expansion. Vaegore had approached King
Keaghan MacCallum and gave the ultimatum, to join under the Ganthian Empire
or be crushed beneath their feet. Needless to say the King opted not to
join under the Ganthian Banner.
Declarations of War were declared and the Nordmaarian troops quickly
surrounded the borders of Ganth. The citizens of Ganth quickly lost faith
in their Emperor and fear overtook them at the sight of the Nordmaarian
troops. Their Emperor was removed and the Ganthians admitted defeat without
any blood being shed. The Nordmaarians have since been placed upon the
Ganthian Council with complete vetoing rights to any decision they may make
in regards to further expansion or thoughts of War.
A victory for certain for that of the Nordmaarians over the Ganthians.
The New Generation
With the threat of war abated, King Keaghan Cathal MacCallum decided to step
down from the throne. Newly remarried to Duchess Vianna Gunn, he opted for
retirement and to spend time with his family. Prince Teirnan MacCallum was
proclaimed the new King of Nordmaar and his wife, Rowynna Bruce MacCallum
the Queen.
As well as part of the throne are their children, Princess Eibhlinn
MacCallum and Prince Raghnall MacCallum. The Former King, Keaghan MacCallum
and his wife Vianna have since become the Duke and Duchess of Nordmaar,
their children Corc, Marnius and Braedyn.
As of this date, with the MacCallum clan once more thriving from near
obliteration, the Highlands as well thrives onwards. War is ever present
and a possibility but as always the Highlands will stand strong.

History: The MacCallum's took the Crown from the Bruce's centuries ago
during the great clan war. Most MacCallum's seem to be in the fleet with
many high ranking officers. Before their crowning, the MacCallum's were
considered mostly a neutral clan. Moira was born to Francis and Sinead
Wallace. Moira joined the fleet as a nurse where she met King Cathal
nursing his wounds. She was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross after
leaving the fleet to be Nordmaar's Queen. Moira was widowed and
birthed the child, William, of Cathal the deceased king. King Cathal was
slain in a duel against Wryllish of Eclipse, defending the honor of his
Queen.
Queen Moira and Prince William were abducted by the Yinn during the
battle of Mutt Bay. Nordmaar won the battle, but lost their prince to the
yinn. Prince William was eventually rescued and claimed the throne after
the death of his mother. King Keaghan would take over for King William who
abdicated the throne. King Keaghan would prove influential in the joining
of his Kingdom with the Vikings, the Thaxanos War, and the Ganthian War.
His wife and prince Teirnan were taken prisoner on the eve of Teirnan's
birth. The queen was killed, but Teirnan lived as part of a yinn plot to
infiltrate Nordmaar. Teirnan was rescued, named the heir to the throne, and
became King. However, much of the royal family was slain by the yinn upon
his return to Nordmaar. His first Queen, Queen Rowynna Bruce, was also
kidnapped by the yinn.

The Wallace Clan - Pro Libertate (For Freedom)
Status: The Wallace clan is one of Nordmaar's more peaceful clans, until they are wronged that is. They currently make up a good portion of the kingdom, many Wallace's are high ranking officers in the army.
History: The Wallaces have never held the crown of the Nordmaar, but they
are known throughout history as heroes. The Wallace clan singly handedly
held off a large brigade of the Yinn during the Yinn invasion. And while
the Yinn eventually conquered Nordmaar, it was the Wallace clan, led by
Laoghaire Wallace, that launched a rebellion driving the Yinn back to the
northern Icelands of Icewall. During the Clan Wars, the Wallace clan joined
with the MacGregors to fight back the Gunns.
The Battle of Mutt Bay brought heroics and disgrace for the Wallace clan.
Dae'tok launched an attack from the port of Icewall and made it all the way
into Nordmaar, but they were turned back by the Nordmaar 1st regiment,
led by 2nd lieutenant and knight Ultan Wallace. However, the Wallace clan
leader was killed during the battle. Ultan's heroics brought him a position as
leader of the Wallace Clan. After the Battle of Mutt Bay, the Wallace clan
lost their leader Ultan, after he was found guilty of trying to raise an army
to take the crown for himself. The majority of Wallace clan mates disapproved
of his actions and shunned him. Instead of execution, the Queen chose to exile
Ultan and his wife Katheryne.

Clan Wars, the Gunns, led by Gilroy Gunn, nearly defeated all other clans

after negotiations between the clans and Cleary Bruce became the first and
only King for the Bruce Clan. False rumors of a Bruce involvement in the
killing helped spark the great clan wars which lasted for several years
until the Bruce clan surrendered the crown to the MacCallums. The Bruce
clan is full of a long and noble history in which they are very proud to
claim. One of the most famous individuals of Nordmaar was known as Rupert

The History of Nordmaar
The Beginning
For as long as could be remembered, the MacGregor clan had led and was the first Royal Family of Nordmaar. The city itself having been founded by Alastar MacGregor.
Ogres Invade
The ogres of Gruntz and surrounding areas had united and begun a campaign for domination within the icy continent. The Gunn clan known for his great might, led by Bryant Gunn almost single handedly defeated every skirmish and war that the ogres had brought forth to the city of Nordmaar. He is known as one of the clans greatest warriors
Clans unite under the MacGregors
After long intense debates, it was agreed among the current clan leaders to unite under one founding body, as a greater showing of strength to any other races or cities who may wish to attack. It was agreed that the MacGregors who had founded the city of Nordmaar should rightfully be the ones to rule over them as King. Alastar MacGregor's son, Drummond MacGregor became the Kingdom of Nordmaar's first King.
Yinn Invasion
The yaenni of Dae'tok had begun their campaign for world domination, spreading forth to destroy all that stood within it's path. Many kingdoms and villages were destroyed from their campaigns. When the yaenni turned their attention to the gates of Nordmaar, it was the Wallace clan that almost single handedly beat back an entire brigade of yaenni. But Nordmaar had been defeated by the Yinn. The Wallace clan led by Laoghaire Wallace launched a rebellion that drove the yaenni back northwards and out of the Highlands. The Kingdom of Nordmaar was once again in the hands of the Highlanders.
MacGregors without heir-Bruces gain crown
King Drummond MacGregor was killed by an assassin of unknown origin and the clans were thrown into an upheaval. The Queen, Nairne had died a year earlier from sickness before any child could be born to the couple. When Drummond was slain, there was no heir to be found. The clans all agreed that the Bruces who had shown great nobility and honorability of nature, should get the crown and lead the Highlands. Cleary Bruce was named the new King of Nordmaar.
Clan Wars
Rumors abounded about how the Bruce clan itself had something to do with the assassination of Drummond MacGregor. The rumors sparked a war that almost destroyed all of the clans. The Gunn clan, led by Gilroy Gunn, nearly defeated all of the clans, until the Wallace and MacGregor clans united defeating them. The clans themselves were nearly all destroyed. The wars lasted for many years.
MacCallums awarded crown-reunite Nordmaar
With the clans nearly all destroyed, and the Gunns defeated, a council of the heads of each clan met to try to end the war between them. All of the clans agreed that the Bruce's should relinquish the crown to the MacCallum clan. Not one of them agreed that the MacGregor's should again have that control. Cathal MacCallum was crowned King of Nordmaar.
MacAllen Clan formed
Many great warriors and fighters from each clan, banded together to form the MacAllen clan. Each having sworn a sacred vow to do protect the current royal family, regardless of who they might be. Carlisle MacAllen became the first leader of the MacAllen clan.
Yinn Campaign
The yinn once more rose and strove for world domination. This time they targetted the Highlanders first, as a form of revenge. Many lives were lost on both sides as the war raged through the Highlands and took to sea. The Nordmaarian flagship the Drochnathair, captained by Latrell Bruce, finally ended the battle by sinking the yaenni ship, the Dae'Penzi.Commanding NCO Maelduin MacAllen was killed in the battle.. It was the bloodiest of all battles between the yinn of Dae'tok and the Highlanders of Nordmaar, and became known as the Battle of Mutt Bay.
Ultan Wallace was shortly there after banished from the Kingdom marked as a traitor, along with his wife Katheryne by the Queen Moira MacCallum. Ultan Wallace was found guilty of trying to raise an army to take the throne for himself, but for his bravery and past acts the queen had taken that into account and only chose to banish him instead of execute him. He was later killed in a duel with Duke Ellis MacCallum, Cathal’s nephew.
The yinn struck their hardest hit when they kidnapped Queen Moira and Prince William. Moira was rescued but William was not found until years later. The yinn had raised him to use against Nordmaar. He was rescued, eventually, by a group of Nordmaarians. He was brought home and eventually recovered.
When Moira died William became the King of Nordmaar. He married Grainne MacAllen. They currently rule Nordmaar. They had three sons, Keaghan, Gabhan and Darrigan. Currently Keaghan, the crown prince, is married to Meckenizie MacLeod
A Request for Information Regarding the History of Nordmaar

Lords and Ladies,
First, I would like to extend my thanks to Queen Emylae MacCallum for her
hospitality and the information she supplied towards the rebuilding of the
Nordmaar collection of our library.
This brings me to the purpose of this missive: the rebuilding of the
Nordmaar Collection within our library. My ancestry follows that of the
"Vikings," although my family left for the Althainian continent long ago.
My interest in this history led me to discover the disrepair of the Nordmaar
history within our library. As I pointed this out to Colonel Datai, I
realized I gladly offered myself up to rebuild it.
The Queen provided me with a great deal of information, which shall be
added. However, there is always more to gather. I seek any information:
collections of missives, prayers, heraldry, battle reports, stories of
heroics, stories of terrors, lists of heads of the clans, information on
each clan, and skaldic poetry... Always skaldic poetry.
We only have the heads of the Viking clans, which the queen supplied this
day. Otherwise, we have no information. While we have some history of
Nordmaar, it ends with the rise of King William... And I know there is much
more.
So, after speaking with the Queen, I ask for any within Nordmaar to send me
missive or speak with me about any information you wish to share. I will be
sending the Lords and Ladies of each clan a separate missive for review of
their clans current status and history.
Kantilles bless,
Sir Kuririn Haraldr
