Desert of Kabir Abyad

A somewhat dangerous area north of New Thalos.

A pointed one handed staff that pierces those it strikes can be found upon a sand bandit roaming the southeast quadrant of the desert.

Digging down at the Underground Ruins will unearth the tunnels. The guardian carries the mysterious Orb of Thalos.

Entering the Fissure Underground in the Mountain Pass will bring you to caves inhabited by sand bandits. These fighters are as strong as a balor, and have the spells of sanctuary and haste. They typically travel in groups of two to five. If you take the southwest fork from the starting tunnel, you will find one who has a pointed wooden staff. If you wish to gather these staffs, you will find one lone sand bandit in the desert with one who is much easier to get to. Jabal'amsi is the sand bandit leader, and casts maladictions in addition to being as strong as a Keep Lord. He carries a sharp, two-handed staff which pierces the flesh of those you hit with it.

Through the crevice in the mountains will take you to another part of the desert which does not seem to connect to the rest, though the end of a caravan trail is there. In this secret area is a village, and a person which sells cats of all sorts as pets.

Datai: a note sealed with a lute and falcon regarding: Kabir Abyad

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To the Lord of the Crown, and various other explorers of the Shield:

Today our Knights were out exploring the Desert of Kabir Abyad and unearthed

a find our previous expeditions there failed to uncover. In the dunes

there, it was possible to dig down and some ruins were discovered. These

were peopled by undead, and acid spitting bugs. In the bottom of the

crevice they came upon a strange silvery-blue guardian. He held an orb of

Thalos, this pretty orb had alot of swirling colors to it. It was also

cursed, and unable to be removed from the person which picked it up. If

floated next to him like a tern would. The orb turned to dust in seven

hours, before they could find what it unlocked or went to.

It would seem there is alot more to that desert than meets the eye. This

device could have some historic significance to Thalos, and we aught

continue to explore these ruins and deserts as able.

Siccara bless,

Lady Datai d'Aggravaine, Shield

Further notes:

The beetles in the Underground ruins spit acid. Fireproof your armors.

The fissure to the cave system under the mountain is full of sand bandits.

The crevice seems to lead to another part of the desert, from which a village may be accessed.

Most denizens of the desert we have encountered thus far have been evil. The mysterious silver-blue guardian is neutral and aggressive.

Nothing has been found in the sand bandit caves which alludes to the use of the Orb of Thalos.
