The moral Philosophy of the Wrath of Justice

The Altar room

This simple room is a place of healing and rest. A place of peace.

Dedicated to the worship of Austinian, the Father of Goodness, you know that

no harm can come to you within these walls. A small altar stands at the end

of a short passage, the symbol of the Father etched into the front. To

either side of the passage are the wooden pews, made of strong hardwood by

your forefathers. You are reminded of the reason the order of Knighthood

was created.

[Exits: east ]

A fragrant red blossom lies here on the ground.

A tall shot of schnapps is here.

(Glowing) Before you is a stone altar to Austinian, Father of Goodness.

A fountain of great beauty stands by the altar.

Seating is available on hardwood pews.

(Blue Aura) (Glowing) The Clan Wars X Championship Trophy stands here.

(Golden Aura) Kiery is here.

(Golden Aura) Kuromaru Shiroken is resting on a strong hardwood pew.

(Golden Aura) Datai d'Aggravaine is resting on a strong hardwood pew.

(Charmed) (Golden Aura) A soft purr sounds from the multicolored feline that lays here on the ground.

(Golden Aura) Jornhya, priest to Austinian stands here waiting to hear your prayers.

Datai says 'The Bishop!'

Kiery says softly 'Was hoping might be a page squire or two about.'

Datai nods.

Datai says 'I may have to change prayer time time again to try catching some.'

Kiery nods.

You say 'Am I on time?'

Datai says 'Yah are, Father!'

Kuromaru says (to You) 'Fashionably late.'

You say 'Or have I read the sandclock wrong again?'

Kuromaru grins.

Kiery says softly 'Late, but on time as we have not started yet.'

You grin at Kuromaru.

Datai says 'Or maybe the right statement is, yah have not missed prayer time, Father'

Datai grins wryly.

Datai says 'We were just stating today's possible topic, obedience.'

Datai says 'And it was mentioned it would be a good topic with some pages and squires about... but I reckon, obediance is something that yah need to remember even in the higher ranks and later in life.'

Gwaine has entered the realm.

Kiery says softly 'I saw a page, but for a moment.'

Gwaine inclines his head breifly.

Datai smiles and salutes Gwaine in greeting.

Gwaine says 'Ladies and sirs.'

Datai says (to Gwaine d'Aggravaine) 'My Lord, yah are just sort of slightly on time for prayer time.'

Caenarfon puts his arms into the folds of his robes.

You salute.

Gwaine says (to Datai d'Aggravaine) 'Just as well that I do not need to be creative about why I was late then.'

You say (to Gwaine) 'I already used the best excuse Brother Gwaine.'

Datai says (to Gwaine d'Aggravaine) 'Was it goats?'

Datai grins wryly.

Datai says 'Anyhow, the topic we had been kicking about was obedience.'

Datai says 'And it was said it was a good topic for pages and squires, but we had none at the moment, and then I said its something best not forgotten in the higher ranks and late in life either...'

Datai says 'as look at Victis' blunder, and the trouble it has caused him and the Wrath in general.'

Datai says 'Here is where someone steps in and saves me on this topic.'

You say 'What was his blunder?'

Kuromaru says (to You) 'He challenged the might of the Father and as a result was shunned.'

Datai says (to You) 'Not being obedient to Austinian. Thinking himself knowing better than his god and smarting off.'

You say 'What did he say?'

Datai says (to You) 'He was going on and on talking about how righteous the Wrath's mission was, when Austinian didn't think so, and he didn't get the hint that he was wrong about all that.'

You say 'How is the Wrath not making Austinian's mission? Their war with the elves?'

Datai says (to You) 'Maybe. Austinian said he'd stopped in on them, and called them, and they didn't answer Him.'

Datai says (to You) 'So yah don't know what mission or war or not war He had for them really.'

Datai says (to You) 'Because He never got to say his bit.'

Datai says (to You) 'We presume, though, the war with the elves is displeasing to Him. But that is a presumption.'

You say 'Is the Wrath wholly at fault for the wars continuation?'

You say 'Apologies, I am not current with events.'

Gwaine says 'I am not sure this war is the issue.'

Datai says (to You) 'He could be upset that they are not taking the money they embezzled from Del'nichi and giving it to orphans.'

Gwaine nods at Datai.

Kuromaru says 'His Avatar said the war with the Elves is merely just a symptom to the greater illness inside the Wrath.'

Datai nods at Kuromaru.

Gwaine says 'I think it is more a case of the Wrath not being attuned to the Holy Father's intention.'

Datai says (to You) 'Simply the issue is they are not listening to Him. But yah, the Wrath refuses all diplomacy. The elves are willing to have peace talks.'

Kuromaru says 'The Wrath of late has declared war on the Towers because of the Black Robes, the Mountain because they -used- to allow vampires but no longer. And the Elves, because the Wrath desires the power of the eldritch.'

Kiery says softly 'Which Zandreya, not the elves will not let them have.'

Kuromaru says 'Yes, all these organizations have members with dark auras. But they also have them with Light auras.'

Datai nods at Kuromaru.

Kuromaru says 'This compounded with the Wrath declaring war on any loner, even those who bare golden auras. And, threatening any who would defend the Vallen, even Metallic Firstborn.'

Kuromaru says 'So no, they are not in tune with the Father's Will.'

Gwaine says 'I am curious to know how many faithful of the Holy Father remain in the Wrath.'

Gwaine says 'Indeed, how many sworn to Gods of Good serve there.'

Gwaine says 'It may be a reality that the Wrath have been subverted to other causes.'

Kuromaru says (to Gwaine d'Aggravaine) 'Very few, I suspect. I've heard that even those in the Wrath with golden auras are mostly servants of Raije and not the Gods of the Pantheon of Light.'

Kiery says softly 'Very few.'

Gwaine nods.

Datai nods at Gwaine.

Kuromaru says 'Lactan, is a prime example.'

Gwaine says 'This is the danger of unfettered recruitment.'

Kiery says softly 'Phonivia serves the Lady, but I doubt that it is more than a convenience.'

Kuromaru says 'He serves her for now, we should say.'

Kiery nods.

Datai says (to Kiery) 'Many serve the gods of their childhood that their parents worshiped without much thought.'

Gwaine says 'If you do not grow your ranks with a view to how such numbers lend to the cause, then at some point the cause is forgotten, and the mentality of the mob takes over.'

Gwaine shrugs.

Datai nods at Gwaine.

Gwaine says 'If this is the case, I am not sure what the solution is - other than a purging of its ranks.'

Gwaine says 'I suppose Victis is of the Father.'

Kuromaru says 'Lord Nadrik, actually.'

Gwaine says (to Kuromaru Shiroken) 'Are you sure?'

Kuromaru ponders.

Kuromaru says (to Gwaine d'Aggravaine) 'I thought I checked during the meeting, but now you have me second guessing myself, sir.'

Gwaine says (to Kuromaru Shiroken) 'I recall him being a paladin of the Holy Father, but my memory could be faulty.'

You say 'I wonder what we might do to help return them to the path of Good.'

Datai says (to Kuromaru Shiroken) 'Well, how is yer letter coming along, Suh? Here is an excellent venue of Knights to review it.'

Kuromaru says (to Datai d'Aggravaine) 'I have not made any changes since the first.'

Datai nods.

Datai says (to Kuromaru Shiroken) 'Have the High Clerist look at the first at least?'

Datai says (to Kuromaru Shiroken) 'Did my suggestions make sense to yah, Suh?'

Datai says (to You) 'Our first step was having the most active priest of Austinian in the world send them a letter saying Austinian is knocking, answer the door when he comes calling.'

Kuromaru says (to Datai d'Aggravaine) 'Yes, but I still would like to find a way to incorporate what I said. It may not be the Father's exact intentions for the letter, but I still feel the points valid.'

Gwaine ponders.

Kuromaru left you a note: Fw: A Letter to the Wrath (Rough Draft)

Datai says (to You) 'It is important that the clan knows that they have not been in the Father's good graces, and He wishes them back. Yah know, the facts of the matter to them.'

You say 'You must distinguish what the Wrath already know. That Austinian is displeased.'

Gwaine nods.

You say 'You must focus on the return to Grace.'

Gwaine says 'I was going to suggest using Victis as an avenue to them.'

Gwaine says 'He should remember what it means to serve His cause entirely.'

Gwaine says 'To reap a good harvest, one needs sow on tilled soil.'

Gwaine says 'Scattering seed on the rocky path will yield only the sweat of your brow.'

You say (to Datai) 'He's saying Light!'

Datai says (to Gwaine d'Aggravaine) 'True, My Lord.'

Caenarfon holds his head in his hands.

Gwaine says 'So the Wrath need to be prepared to receive the message.'

Gwaine says 'Use the Sentinel to unlock the history and purpose of the Wrath.'

Gwaine says 'And then remind them what they were.'

Gwaine says 'What they need to be return to a service that is demanded.'

You say 'One message that the Wrath has not been able to rationalise.'

You say 'They support Good at any cost.'

Datai says (to Gwaine d'Aggravaine) 'We did think, though, it would be appropriate to send a letter to the entirety of the Wrath stating Austinian's displeasure. That those who might be willing to answer, but too shy at this point, may feel empowered to act.'

You say 'In order to do this, they are not picky as to their methods.'

You say 'They use the ends as being more important than the means.'

Kuromaru says (to You) 'Yes, I am aware of Lady Datai's distain for calling the forces of goodness 'The Light', but it is how we have always been called to be, and thus I will always refer to them as the same.'

You say 'In doing so, they do not always perform the good and right action to arrive at the good and right outcome.'

You say 'I would agree with you if this were just a question of semantics.'

You say 'But Light and Dark are only a message that has come from Evil, to hide their wicked purpose.'

You say 'Light and Dark have no morality to their actions.'

You say 'Good and Evil do.'

You say 'If we are Light and Dark, and morality does not exist in either, then we are simply two groups of people following different Gods.'

You say 'However, we are following gods of Honor, Love and Healing and the like.'

You say 'And Evil, murder, disease and rage and the like. '

You say 'Defined in this is the morality we are aligned to.'

Datai says 'Well, regardless of how that is worded, it does have to be a message the Wrath understands and can use to improve themselves.'

You say 'But getting back to my previous point, that message that the Wrath has not been able to rationalise.'

Datai nods at you.

You say 'Can it be possible to serve Good through wrong or they would say expedient action?'

You say 'As the Wrath do.'

You say 'For in doing what is expedient to get to the right and good outcome, are the Wrath being Good?'

Datai says 'They may get things right sometimes by accident, Father. But that is Austinian's problem to worry on. Though the fact that the wrath have fallen so far from him by performing these wrong actions is why they are no longer under His command...'

Datai says 'and this falling out was inevitable.'

Datai says 'Regardless of if they were not that great to start with, Austinian wants them back, flaws and all.'

You say 'But are they able to serve Good, if they care only for outcomes, not say, the honor that it would take to get them there.'

Datai says (to You) 'I see where yah are going, Father. And I agree with yah, and that they have become as they have is proof of what yah speak of.'

You say 'As Brother Victis says, The Wrath exists to protect Good, so that we may sleep safely in our beds, in the knowledge that rough men are ready to go out in the night and perform what is necessary to make our world safe.'

You say 'Is this consistent with Austinian's Good?'

Datai says (to You) 'Still, Austinian wants them back. Perhaps He has some rules or commands for them to make them less ends and more means.'

You say 'This is perhaps what the Wrath needs to rationalize, how they will get to this point.'

You say 'Must the Wrath change from being 'these rough men' in order to return to the side of Austinian?'

Datai says (to You) 'Perhaps so, Father.'

Gwaine says 'We are not asked to prescribe morality to the Wrath.'

Gwaine says 'We are simply being asked to remind the Wrath that they serve Him.'

Gwaine says 'As we do.'

Gwaine says 'However, there is a difference in how we are required to serve.'

Datai says 'Which does bring us back to the whole obedience bit of today's topic.'

Gwaine says 'The Holy Father will instruct them as is necessary, as we are guided.'

Gwaine says 'What He asks of them may be different to what He asks of us, well, we know it will be different.'

Datai nods.

Gwaine says 'So I think this lesson is quite pertinent.'

Gwaine says 'Obedience.'

Gwaine says 'Would we be obedient if we tried to remake the Wrath in the image of this Keep?'

Gwaine smiles slightly.

Datai says 'Sometimes I would send them flowers.'

You stare at Datai.

Datai grins wryly.

Datai says 'We were contemplating obedience for Prayer Time.'

Datai says 'So, did anyone else have any thoughts or prayers today?'

Datai says (to Falric) 'Suh, would yah be willing to lead us in a small prayer?'

Falric says (to Datai d'Aggravaine) 'I.. er... I'll try, ma'am.'

Datai says (to You) 'After the prayer, Father.'

Falric inclines his head, touching his gloved hand to the engraved symbol of Austinian on the face of his hammer.

Datai bows her head, and clasps her hands.

Falric says 'Blessed Father, look down upon those who stand in the Light of your enduring love for your Family, who bring your messages of kindness and compassion and justice to the world that stands on the brink of chaos and darkness.'

Falric says 'Bless us, Father, who fight to repel the shadow that threatens to swallow everything, and give us the strength to carry on. In your most holy name, Father, we give thanks. Amen.'

Caenarfon puts his arms into the folds of his robes.

Datai murmurs an amen and smiles.

Datai says 'Thank yah, Suh.'

You pray, saying "Upon this Day of the Sun, 6th the Month of Winter I spoke to Victis of the Wrath. We spoke of the transgression, and how Austinian was angered by the actions of those whose actions are not always Good.".

You pray, saying "Upon this Day of the Sun, 6th the Month of Winter I spoke to the Knights of Gareth Keep in prayer time. I posed the question if the nature of the Wrath, who does any action to advance the cause of Good. If by doing Evil to advance the cause of Good, would Austinian approve?".

The gods have received your prayers.
