Conversation with Kasumiko about Peace

You tell Kasumiko 'Hail Daughter of Kadiya.'

Kasumiko tells you 'Greetings.'

You tell Kasumiko 'I wondered if we might have some words.'

Kasumiko tells you 'Of course. Would you like to meet in person or do you prefer communication in this way?'

You tell Kasumiko 'We could meet in Her temple in Althainia if you wish. I find it a peaceful place.'

Kasumiko tells you 'Of course.'

Temple of Kadiya

[Exits: northwest ]

(Golden Aura) Kasumiko is here.

A statue of the Goddess Kadiya stands regally in the center of the room.

You salute.

You say 'Corwen.'

You say 'Of Nadrik.'

You say 'I wondered if we might discuss Knighthood and Peace.'

Kasumiko says (to You) 'Kasumiko Aino, of The Lady of Peace and Her Mother.'

Kasumiko bows at the waist, hands clasped in front of her, head bowed in respect to you.

You say 'I heard the words of discouragement from the Cardinal and wished to make some things clear.'

Kasumiko raises an eyebrow.

You say 'Cardinal Bolter, Daughter of Kadiya.'

Kasumiko says (to You) 'I know of whom you speak, but am not entirely sure of what.'

You say 'I believe he called Peace a waste of time, and that there was no place for it in the destruction of evil?'

Kasumiko says 'Ah. Yes.'

Kasumiko settles into a militant stance, at ease, but rigid, her hands clasped in front of her.

You say 'I'd like to point out that this is not entirely the case from the position of Knighthood.'

You say 'Of course Peace has a place in the way we govern things according to the rule of law.'

Kasumiko says 'I would hope not; for a clan that spouts words like "Honor" and "Justice", it seems much more that "action" and "righteous vengeance" against the Dark are what is practiced more often than not.'

You say 'And it is one of two ways of allowing us to reach an end which furthers honor, and all of Good.'

You nod.

You say 'Cardinal Bolter has seen much evil and sees the world in black and white.'

Kasumiko says (to You) 'And it is confusing, to say the least, to hear a Cardinal of the Light proclaim that Peace is a waste of time... Is that not what the Light strives for? Peace and harmony? Or am I misunderstanding something?'

You say 'Many times it has taken advantage of our good intention, and this frustrated both him and all our efforts.'

Kasumiko says (to You) 'And you will have to forgive me for being discouraged by his world of black and white, when I know the world to be colored in shades of gray.'

You say 'I don't believe that to be the case Lady.'

You say 'However, there are conditions when peace is not possible.'

Kasumiko says 'Not all of us were born so strong in our convictions, nor even in the beliefs of the Gods at all.'

You say 'And then less benign methods are required.'

You nod.

Kasumiko says (to You) 'Well I would hope that a gathering of those who would hear the Lady's message, and that of Her Mother, would count, but the Cardinal came in and proceeded to argue over all that I said, which didn't seem very peaceful to me.'

You say 'If I might present an example?'

Kasumiko says (to You) 'Go ahead.'

You say 'Oh I quite agree.'

You say 'It is his frastration, and his cross to bear.'

You say 'But all churches have their myriad of views. And they make up all our faiths.'

You say 'But to the example.'

Kasumiko nods.

You say 'You are a lord of land, and you have a neighbouring lord.'

Kasumiko nods.

You say 'The lord asks you to undo an ancient injustice and give some of his lands which were taken long ago. The new king gave you the lands, so they are your right.'

You say 'You offer in the name of peace to understand the position of the lord, and cede the lands.'

You say 'But he does not stop there.'

You say 'He asks for more, so more you give in good faith.'

You say 'One day you stop and refuse the evil lord taking advantage of your good faith.'

You say 'He becomes aggressive and demands more.'

You say 'He threatens with war when you do not comply to his demands.'

You think about it.

Kasumiko says 'Then yes, Justice is on the good Lord's side on this one, as the other is being greedy and demanding things that do not belong to him. It would be only responsible to wish your lands peace and for no harm to come to them.'

Kasumiko says 'And to raise your army against his, while all the while standing your ground.'

You say 'There are set about in the "Theology of Algoron' such conditions where the order for ideological war must be given if we are to protect the innocent.'

Kasumiko says 'While I understand retaliating with justifiable means against an injustice done to you...'

You say 'Of course, if the lands you held were his, you would cede them in peace.'

Kasumiko says 'I cannot agree with nor ever condone taking violent action first.'

You agree.

Kasumiko says 'And that is the point that the Cardinal and I disagreed upon.'

You say 'Enlightened civilisations do not start with war.'

Kasumiko says 'There are many other options before we get to "kill everything".'

You say 'It is a last resort tp protect the people.'

Kasumiko says 'Needless to say, that is not a mentality that the Cardinal and I appear to agree on.'

You agree.

Kasumiko says (to You) 'I would like to ease your worry about my thoughts on the Knighthood.'

Kasumiko says (to You) 'I do not take the words of a Priest as the words of the entire order of people that he has led or lived with.'

You say 'However, I believe what the Cardinal was refering to was ideological opposites.'

You thank Kasumiko.

You say 'I am glad to hear that Lady.'

Kasumiko says (to You) 'I have, in my experience, been treated fairly, and politely, by all within the Knighthood. I have been respected, and my opinion listened to.'

Kasumiko says (to You) 'One of my most valuable friends is one Mercerion Mamoritai, formerly of Gareth.'

You say 'Pleased to hear that Lady.'

You smile.

Kasumiko says (to You) 'I respect what the Knights do. I will say that my background colors what I do and my opinions differently than most of the Light, and especially those of the Knighthood.'

Kasumiko says (to You) 'But that does not mean I do not find Honour in your order, nor that I disrespect what you do in any way shape or form. Not everyone will agree on everything all the time.'

Kasumiko chuckles.

You say 'In the example of Shadow and Knighthood, Bolter might suggest that peace talks to start with might be a waste of tome, and he would likely be correct.'

You nod.

You say 'We are mortals with aspirations to Good.'

You say 'It is the aspiration which separates us from evil.'

Kasumiko nods.

You say 'Long may we aspire to honor and peace, giving peace a chance where a chance might exist.'

Kasumiko says 'I would never think the Knights of Storm Keep would be unyielding in their belief that their Master will once again walk the Lands and conquer everything. It is a prophecy, and they believe it to be true. Peace talks with them would get us no where.'

You say 'I am glad we had this talk Daughter of Kadiya, I feel better for the shared understanding.'

You smile at Kasumiko.

Kasumiko says 'On the other hand, being the first to strike against them seems like wasted time and effort, and unnecessary chaos and violence. Until they make the first aggressions, until they show they are actively pushing to drive the Light out of the ground, I would personally put my efforts elsewhere.'

Kasumiko says 'But then, I have never been the most skilled tactitian.'

Kasumiko chuckles.

You grin.

You say 'Is there anything you wish of Nadrik or Knighthood?'

Kasumiko says (to You) 'Thank you for speaking with me. I am glad that we have had this discussion as well, and I wish peace unto your heart, and unto the Keep as well, that the Light might actually find the unity to defeat the void that threatens us all. The Darkness we can handle...'

Kasumiko says 'The void is another matter altogether.'

You say 'Chaos?'

Kasumiko says (to You) 'I would merely ask that Peace be given a chance within the Keep, and that it be encouraged that we accept the differences between all of the Light, and push to unite us all to drive Malachive and his void from these lands.'

You nod.

Kasumiko says 'For truly, that is all he will leave in the wake of chaos.'

You say 'A reasonable request.'

You say 'We must find more information on his ideology.'

Kasumiko nods.

Kasumiko says 'If there is ever anything I can provide to the Keep, please do not hesitate to ask.'

You say 'Freedom and chaos are glib and require more explanation.'

You salute Kasumiko.

You smile.

Kasumiko bows at the waist, hands clasped in front of her, head bowed in respect to you.

You say 'May you find your peace through your new Mistress Love.'

Kasumiko says (to You) 'May we all find Love to carry in our hearts through everything, and the Peace that comes with acceptance.'

Kasumiko smiles at you.

You say 'Indeed.'

You say 'Farewell, Daughter of Kadiya.'

Kasumiko says (to You) 'Peace unto your heart, Son of Honor.'

You salute.
