Third Eurorail Journey

Post date: 13-Oct-2009 14:44:22

Departed Geneva Airport at 7:33 AM and arrived in Milano at 11:35 AM.

Scenery: Mountains, Lakes, Streams, bridges and tunnels, little islands on little lakes

Train: CIS 37 seats 095 and 096 double with a table and window for the first 30 minutes to Lusanna and then window seats 091 and 092 with a table but single seats for the rest of the journey.

Countries: Switzerland and Italy

On Thursday, October 01, 2009 we found an elderly couple from Victoria who were lost trying to find their seats on our train on their way to Venice. We helped them take their luggage on board the train.

We were sitting near them until we were kicked out of our seats that said they were free. When we stopped in Lusanna, a large group of French women in their 60s had our seats reserved. We moved out of our seats for the clucking hens. I got to listen to the French gossiping woman beside me respond "oui oui oui," so many times that I wanted to slap her. However, we were very lucky that we got to keep our new seats for the rest of the journey (we were not able to reserve seats). The train was packed with about 10 people standing in between the cars and in the aisles.

The bonus of our coach is that each seat has a plug-in but we sometimes loose laptop power through tunnels. The toilet on this train does not drain to directly below the car (the other trains we were on did).

This was the best scenery we have seen on the train yet, it zoomed by the train window like a flip book of mountains, lakes and streams.
