Sir Robin Hood in Nottingham

We took a train to Leichester today and then from Leichester we took another train to Nottignham to see Sir Robin. We walked past a really old pub from the 1800s Jerusalem.

The castle is nice but way less commercialized than Warwick castle, but since the castle was burned down there isn't much left and there was no wall to walk across or anything, but the grounds were very nice and there were lots of statues of Robin Hood everywhere too. We visited the museum and looked through the army clothes.

Next, we walked to Broad Marsh Shopping Center and ventured into the caves below the mall. They are made out of sandstone and have been there since the 800s. They were used since the Air Raids so there were old gas masks and Hitler advertisements. We listened to the practice sirens and walked through the cool caves. It would have been a really scary time to grow up.

We're getting slowly caught up on our posts and by tomorrow we think we'll be totally caught up with some great Ireland posts...check back soon. In the mean time, take a look at all 173 of our pics from Day 5 in Nuneaton.
