Sixth Eurorail Journey

Post date: 18-Oct-2009 09:36:21

Departed Peschiera del Garda at 8:47 AM and arrived at Milano Centrale at 10:15 AM.

Travelled first class. It was a short and comfy trip but we had to change seats twice and only sat together for part of the trip.

Scenery: Saw houses and fields

Train: Treno 9706

Transferred in Milano Centrale to go to Roma 10:30 AM-14:29 PM

Scenery: Saw a few factories and lots of rain.

Train: Trento 9433

Country: Italy

We started out in two individual seats in first class 96 for me and 92 for Colin. Our railpass was checked and our reservation ticket. We were lucky the lady was nice and said it didn't matter that we had a second class reservation and were sitting in first class. I think if we were to take the train once more we would have everything figured out with if we do or do not make a reservation and how we know if seats are reserved or not etc.

Our second class reservation did not reserve us seats so half way through the trip we were kicked out of our seats and moved to seats 14 and 16 which were better seats anyway. We also had a rack for our luggage. The toilets on the train were huge. We also received the best first class service we have ever received-complimentary newspapers, juice, water, coffee tea and a sweet or salty snack. The sweet snack was two chocolate covered cookies and the salty was crackers. The seats had buttons that automatically make them recline and move closer or farther from your tray. Each seat was also equipped with plug-ins. It was a great last rail journey. I will miss travelling by train. It's so much better than flying-no customs, you can leave sharp items in your bag, you can take as many liquids as you want, you can bring as many snacks and drinks as you want, and there are no weight limits on baggage.
