The Vatican City

Even though we are supposedly touring in off season, I don't

believe it for a second. We visited St. Peter's Basilica on Wednesday, Oct 14, 2009 in the afternoon and there were thousands of people in line. However, we managed to sneak around and were the first to get in to see the cathedral, so we lucked out.

We also saw the Sistine Chapel and the ceilings that Michelangelo painted, but the crowds were even more insane. We toured the Vatican Museum first because you must go through the entire museum to get to the Sistine Chapel and it's included in one ticket for 14 euro.

The Pope-mobile

We saw this work of art within the Vatican museum and the last time we saw one of these spheres was in Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.

The Vatican City is very beautiful and ancient, but we expected to see more old buildings outside the Vatican area too. We found two geocaches in the wall of the Vatican city.
