6 Hours in the Louvre

Post date: 27-Aug-2009 22:08:45

Colin and I spent 6 hours in the largest museum we've ever been in today. The Louvre is huge and the beautiful old building is designed to give you the maximum workout. There are many sets of stairs and once you complete a section of a floor you have to walk past a lot of the art again to get to the next floor.

The floor of sculptures was really cool to walk through, but it did get a bit depressing after a while. Did anyone ever smile for a sculptor back in the day? The Mona Lisa and all the other wonderful art work was wonderful to admire. We also saw Louis XV's coronation crown too.

I would have to say that the Egyptian pieces, the furniture in Napoleon III's apartment, and all the antique jewelery were my favourites. It was really quite the information overload going through the museum and I am impressed to say that we saw everything. We didn't rent a head set to listen to further information about the pieces. I think that if we would have then we would have needed 12 hours to see everything.

We were so hungry after walking through the museum that we decided to cave and try McDonald's

for supper. The McDonald's in Paris was actually the nicest McDononald's that I have ever

seen. We ordered our food through a touch screen and as Colin said "The food actually looks exactly like the pictures." Colin had a McTasty which I thought was more of a McNasty, but he liked it. I had a chicken burger with bacon on an onion bun. I really enjoyed the wedge fries which I haven't seen in Canada. The McDonld's also looked like a bar and had really cool seats and wi-fi. It was really the cool place for young people to hang out.

It was a long and late night walk back from the train station to where we're staying. We

usually cut through the woods, but at 10:30 PM we opted not to tonight.

Sorry for the weirdness today...it seems Google Sites is having big issues. But, if you are dying to see all 303 of the pics from this day in Paris, here they are.
