Eighth Beck-Trek

On Saturday, June 13, 2009, in the sweltering 28 C weather Colin and I met Lynette in Rainbow Valley for geocaching and feeding the animals. We came really close to getting a baby squirrel to eat out of Colin's hand. We brought bird seed for the chickadees but it was too hot for them to land on us.

Lynette found our first cache of the day which was cleverly hidden in a brick near a bush. Throughout our 2 hour trek through the ravine, we found four other caches. One was hidden near this neat white sand dune looking mountain. It took us a bit of hunting and walking back and forth to find it. A few girls walked by and said that if we went up the hill further there was a path to get to the top. I guess they thought we were looking for a way to climb to the top of the sand dune. We said thanks and didn't bother to explain that we were looking for a tupperware container at the bottom of the hill.

One cache required us to cross the creek. As we carefully stepped from shaky rock to shaky rock we saw a lobster of some sort in the water which was surprising because we didn't think they could live in little creeks but there were a few tad poles in the creek too. We moved a wooden axe travel bug from one side of the pond to a cache on the other side of the bond. It was really good that we took a picture of the TB because later when we tried to record the move on www.geocaching.com we realized that we didn't have the number except in the picture.

We're finally having great summer weather and we've had no rain, but somehow there are still sketters out there. Lynette and I each got a few bites, but they left Colin alone. I guess the don't like boys.
