Conveyor Belt Sushi

For Colin's 29th birthday we went to Tokyo Genki Sushi. It's a conveyor belt sushi restaurant. During the lunch rush, various plates of sushi travel around the bar counter on a conveyor belt. The cost of each plate is categorized by the color and shape of the plate. We arrived just after the lunch rush, so the conveyor belt was no longer moving. However, we still had a huge selection of sushi to choose from and it was made fresh for us.

We started off with Uramaki-Canadian (salmon rolls) and then tried Ootoro Sushi. It's pink and white tuna and it's the highest grade. It melts in your mouth. I really enjoyed the texture and the taste.

We felt like it was our first time eating sushi since we made the mistake of putting green tea powder into our soya sauce instead of wasabi. The sushi chefs laughed at us, but at least they noticed right away and told us. It didn't taste too bad though. We received a fresh container of wasabi. It also had black bits in it that looked like pepper. However, I think it looked this way because it was made from a wasabi plant instead of the dry powder and paste that we use at home.

We also received free egg rolls for dessert for Colin's birthday present. The sushi chef sang him happy birthday too.

A few other pictures of sushi and other traditional Japanese food that we tried:

On the bottom right is eel. We've determined that we don't like eel. The texture is awful and it's rather fishy tasting.

Haven't seen this before
