Reflection Self Portrait

Artist Statement:

This photo is of me. I took it in the bathroom in the reflection of the toilet (I know, gross). I used my phone to take this photo, and I had to bend down over the lou to take it. I chose to take this photo, because I saw that that specific part had a really intreging shadow. This photo has the elements and principles of line, because there are lines in the reflection; shape, because the reflective part is a circle; and value, because there are different shades of grey.

This photo has the composition rules/techniques of rule of thirds, because my face is in the required spot; soft focus, because the photo is blurry; and framing, because I think the reflective circle kind of frames my face. Originally, I was going to take a reflective photo of me in my pond at my house, but it was very hard to take that kind of photo with out falling in or dropping my camera.

This photo is honestly quite gross and was not fun to take. I did like how it turned out digitally, though not the print as much. I wish it had more of a full range of values because I feel likeit would be nicer. This photo relates to my life because it is a photo of me. If I could change something about this print it would be to make it bigger next time, and more valuefull, clear, and detailed.
