Artist Statement:

The subject of this image is my cat, Jingles laying in a blanket. I used my iPhone 7 with the flash on to take this photo. I chose to take this photo because he looked really cute. I thought the blanket color would be nice as a color filter for the entire photo, so I tried it and liked it. This photo has the elements/principles of shape, because my cat's face is composed of different shapes; color, because the whole photo is the color pink in different shades; value, because the pink is an assortment of different values; texture, because both the blanket and my cat's fur are textured; emphasis, because my cat is composed of darker values than the blanket is; pattern because my cat's fur is patterned; and unity, because the photo is just unifyed.

This photo contains the composition rules/techniques of rule of thirds, because my cat is located in the required spots for it; sharp focus, because the photo is very clear and focused; and framing, because the blanket kind of frames my cat. i originally was just going to take a photo of my cat close up, but then when I saw that the blanket he was in was a pretty and aesthetically pleasing color, I decided to use that color for the whole photo.

This photo is of my cat and he is important to me so it relates to my life. If I could make this stronger I would zoom it in more onto his face. I think it would look better with his patterned face. This photo relates to my concentration, because it is of my cat, and he has natural colors and texture in his fur.
